I've also heard something recently about Starbucks working with a
brewery on a "Coffee Beer." I'd like to hear from anyone who's tasted
that as well. I think it's being tested in Seattle (surprise!).

Darn it! I just read an article about it, and I can't find it.
If I remember right, one of the original founders of Starbucks went on to
found Red Hook Brewery, and they are really working on a coffee beer. I
don't remember the specific kind of beer--a dark something, maybe an
ale--but I do remember they were using Dark Columbian for the coffee.
It's in yesterday's Seattle Times, if anyone still has it.

The beverage comes in 2 flavors. A regular and a spiced version. The
packaging is very nice and it comes in a 4 pack that sells for $6.00. As
far as the product goes... it is slightly carbonated, sweetened and has
the typical burnt coffee taste that Starbucks is famous for. People either
love it or hate it. I hear that is will be launched nationally by years
end.

It is interesting that S-bucks is going to be producing a carbonated coffee
drink.
I've been drinking a product in NY called "Manhattan Special"(actually, it
is made in Brooklyn) for years. It is a sweetened and also slightly carbo
expresso drink. It WILL raise your blood pressure just like a demitasse would.
The product is fairly high quality; they brew the expresso at the bottling plant
and you can smell it for blocks around the factory. It is distributed outside NY
but probably not too widely.

still on bottling number 1 because they can't give it away? And you
like it?
I like Coffee People, but their attempt to move into the soft drink
market was a horrible experiment that I hope they don't repeat.
Hopefully SBUX and Pepsi will come up with something quite a bit more
palatable.
