reply to radiojon AT means.net.

(sorry for spelling it out, but the 'bots are hard at work reading messages
and grabbing every address they find!)

I'm going through espresso withdrawl because my older Krups 964 needs a new
black rubber gasket, the one that seals the basket in place. It's torn and
is leaking everywhere.

I've contacted a parts place online, but they do not list the item, just the
metal baskets. I fear it could take weeks to track one down.

Anyone out there know how I can get a new gasket NOW???? I am assuming and
hoping that the same size gasket is used on newer pump machines and that
only the cosmetics have changed...

TIA John

If it is not formed or grooved or such, you could make one to use
until a replacement arrives (if you find one). Any decent (non-chain)
auto parts store should be able to show you a selection of gasket
material in 8x10 sheets. They should also be able to sell ou a gasket
cutter for making round gaskets. It works like a compass.

Hey. This may be a good excuse to insert my gourmet ham (as opposed to
spam).

I ordered a seal, for my Krups Maximo 863 semi-commercial, from Georgia
Servicenter (1-800-455-1715) a couple of weeks ago. Cost me $10.45 with
shipping ($7.98+). Within an hour of ordering it, I managed to destroy
my Krups beyond salvaging.

So, I have a brand new part #58047 (the number on the plastic bag it
came in). I also have the seal that was on my machine, which, even more
ironically, turned out to be in excellent shape, apparently. If you
find out the seal is the same as yours, you can have both for half the
price of one new one. Email me.

I also saved the drip tray, steam wand (nearly new), the perfect froth
attachment, or whatever they call it, the portafilter holder, the one
and two-cup filters, the water reservoir, and the brewhead strainer.

Good luck,

Marcus

Good Lord! What happened that you could only salvage a few parts?
