Hi,

I'm doing a school (college) project in which I'm writing a business
and marketing plan for a friend's home coffee roasting business. They
think that coffee connoisseurs may be the same folks as beer
connoisseurs so I thought that I'd ask you nice folks if you could
please take a moment to fill out the following survey -

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=329151551239

It will only take a couple of minutes and it is completely anonymous.
No personal information will be gathered at all.

Thanks to any of you who help!

Yes, it is spam, but once you answer the early question that you drink
coffee as a habit, a routine, then it makes the rest of the questions
moot. You can answer them anyway. Stupid questions like.............

31. Do you consider brewing coffee to be an enjoyable activity?

Put grounds and water into Mr. Coffee, turn it on. What the hell is
active or enjoyable about this??

Oh, hell, I spent a few minutes on it -- surveymonkey is safe, they
don't collect any personal information or try to park spyware on your
computer and her appeal to chivalry in the subject line just got to me.

I found the questions a bit confusing -- my actual answer was, at times,
simply not there so I opted for the lesser of 4 evils.

I think with homebrewing, kiteflying and guitarplaying all going along
with some effort to limit caffeine intake I won't be doing any home
roasting in the near future. There's a coffee shop about 5 miles from
my home where they roast on premise all day so any time I'm Jonesing for
the aromatics and sounds I can take a ride, buy a cuppa good, not
shitbucks, coffee and partake of all the smells and popping sounds too.

Don't give a damn, like I said, my responses will only serve to confuse
them.

They have the Dogfish Head 120 minute at the store near me in NJ for
$7.99 or so. I should probably pick up a bottle one of these days.

Pick up a few but not for immediate consumption -- it's really
sickeningly sweet when fresh. Give it 2 to 3 years in the bottle --
then it'll be ready to drink.

I think I have a new name for the double cappucino I make every morning
using my Saeco Classico 15-bar unit and freshly ground Intelligentsia Black
Cat beans with organic whole milk (not because it's organic, but because
they heat-treat it so that it tastes fresh from the cow for weeks, whereas
most store milk tastes like plastic chalk): "Miracle Foam"

I'm enjoying the New Glarus Tail Wagger barley wine. It goes for a similar
price: $6.99 ...

...but for a 6-pack ;)

New Glarus made a barleywine?! I think it's time for a
run across the Cheddar Curtain.

Is that the "tamed down" version? If so, I agree. The 18%+ brew I didn't
care for.

Heh, yep. It's only been out for a couple months so far I think.
It's not bad, but not my favorite. But then again, maybe I should
put a couple away...

I think you actually need to eat your way through it, technically.
Mmm, cheese...

The first version of it (which came only in bombers) was 18%, and I
would agree it was overdone. Was kind of surprised they re-released the
Beast in a slightly lower ABV version, as Avery's schtick seems to be to
release bigger, stronger, imperial-ized beers. --

It's turning into my favorite--I was wrong in my previous post--it is $5.99
a six, and I just picked up a case of 24 for $23. The first sip I had, I
didn't really like it for the same reason I couldn't even drink glarner
beers a couple years ago (before they started brewing their 'unplugged'
series)--they all seemed a bit watery. Their smoked rye bock is 12%
ABV--and it STILL seems watery. This was the thinnest barleywine on the
palate I've ever had, but after having it two or three times and now more, I
REALLY enjoy it. It is--imagine this--a 'quaffable' barleywine (hic!). And
that $23 case price makes me want to use cases of it for furniture.

Holy cow, that seems TOO cheap. Buy it while you can!

Even the Uffda Bock? Even the Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart? :-)

Hmm, I didn't notice that myself. Thin-ish, but not watery. But
maybe I'll use this as an excuse to try another bottle or two. :-)
