Almond Horns

Does anyone have a recipe for the almond horns I recall from the
Jewish bakeries in the Detroit area where I grew up in the 50s and
60s?

These are a type of large cookie, basically a variant on shortbread,
but with ground almonds, shaped like a horseshoe and the ends are
dipped in chocolate. The outside of the cookie usually has slivered or
sliced almonds on it.
