I was cooking pasta in my new all-clad and when I was done, I noticed
that there were marks from the pasta in the bottom of the pan. I can't
get them to come off, what would you recommend?

Hon, I agree with Chris. BKF or Bon Ami, as a paste.
I see the same stuff with rice. Apparently it's something to
do with the starch in the pasta. A light buffing and it's gone.

Most folks don't know that Barkeepers Friend™ and Bon Ami™ are pretty
much interchangeable. They are low abrasive cleansers without the added
chlorine bleach that Comet™ has.

(I'm betting that the folks who taught me to use the alt symbols are
shaking their heads in sorrow right now :-))

Here's another one to add to Registered Trademarks.. ® either one is
acceptable. Personally I think it's cuter in a circle :-)

a *big* difference is that BKF contains oxalic acid, which acts as a
bleach, and, so necessary for barkeepers, it dissolves blood.
It's also poisonous, forming an insoluble precipitate with
calcium in the body. Do not inhale the dust. Do not feed to
pets and children. The jury is still out for MIL's.

well, there was nothing showing (to me) from option-2.

besides, that sounds like mac-talk, spoken only by aliens and artistical
types.

While it's true that they are both low abrasive cleaners, the chemical
makeup is different.

Bbbbut, bbbut it's All Clad You can't just ignore marks on All Clad. It
must be perfect and shiny all the time. What will the neighbors think?

Barkeepers Friend contains oxalic acid (like Zud, but less abrasive.)
Bon Ami doesn't contain acids, just soap and a very mild abrasive.

That's good to know. It also means that Barkeeper's Friend should be
great for removing rust stains.

Well... my neighbors come over on a regular basis to inspect the condition
of my All-Clad. They really don't have anything else to worry about other
than getting new roofs, fences, carpet, etc. because of Hurricane Ike <g>

Chris whose next-door neighbor is getting a new roof today
