Yes I noticed the same thing! I've been eating Campbells tomato soup
since I was a kid so I knew right off something was wrong! Now it taste
like those watered-down generic brands. How could they change what has been
an American classic for all these years? At the least they could have
given us a choice! What the customer wants doesn't matter much to big
business these days. :(

I love Campbell's cream of tomato soup made with 1 1/2 cans milk and a
pat of butter melted in. Then I tear up bread and put it into the
soup. Yummy!

And have you tried putting some grated extra sharp Cheddar (or Gruyere)
into the bowl before the hot soup? Also Yummy. Let it snow, who cares!
(Yes, folks, that time of year is coming again :) )

Yes they do, it is an american staple. Any grocery store carries
Campbells Cream of tomato soup in the red and white labeled can :-).

I grew up on this stuff--and still enjoy it--although I added crumbled saltines until the spoon was able to
stand up in the mixture. I find it amazing that a product can be cosnistent in character and flavor through
decades of manufacture. How do they do it?

I love it with milk! I also add a little oregano and basil, and some
freshly grated parmesan cheese for a nice change!

That reminds me;
I'm old enough to remember when Campbells cream of Mushroom soup
actually contained a reasonable amount of mushrooms....
( same goes for the chicken bits in their cream-of-chicken soup )

MmmMMMMmmmmm, yes, lovely, though I leave out the butter. But you
left out the basil and black pepper in the soup, and the grilled-
cheese sandwich and big ol' dill pickle alongside. :)

Hell, I just tear up the sandwich and drop it in the soup. I sometimes
(especially in the summer when the vine ripened one are in season) put
sliced tomatoes in my grilled cheese. I use a combination of grated sharp
and american cheese (sometimes I even use Velveeta - take that!).
Yummo!

I make a great tomato quiche. Just fresh skinned, deseeded tomatos,
cheddar cheese, fresh chives and the typical egg and milk custard.
