Semolina flour instead of all purpose for egg noodles

Yeah, it was 35 cents worth of flour instead of 5 cents, but it was way easier to work with. The texture of the noodles is very different, and you can roll them out thinner. My wife came home for lunch with bad news. Last summer a groundhog dug a burrow next to our house. I trapped it and took it far, far away. Apparently, a new groundhog has moved into the old burrow. Guess I have a good reason to buy a cantaloupe, which is what I caught the last one with.

The good news is that the chicken soup turned out great. I think that's my cooking for the day. I'll get takeout for this evening, especially since my son's high school graduation is tonight. I can get something he likes a lot.

For some reason my first reply had none of my message. I said something
like this:

I've never worked with semolina flour. It isn't the price, but the
availability. Where I shop, there doesn't seem to be much variety in
flour. Finding cake flour is almost impossible too. But GP, WF and BF
are easy as hell to find.

I occasionally make Galaktobouriko, a Greek phyllo recipe with a sweet
dense custard filling that calls for semolina. I use Cream of Wheat and
it turns out the same.

Did she come home for lunch last year or just recently?

Just toss some mothballs down the hole and spray with water every
day. Then when its gone (or even if it isn't), FILL IN THE HOLE
THIS TIME!

You need to look on the top shelf for boxes or else stop shopping at
Walmart.

Probably not many Italians where you live, Semolina flour is used to
make pasta and the best breads.

She came home for lunch yesterday. We both live very close to our jobs, and both come home for lunch breaks every single time.

I didn't fill in the holes because a possum had taken up residence, and possums don't cause further damage. They just live in abandoned holes. I'm sure the groundhog ran off the possum, and after I trap it and relocate it, I will fill in the holes. Mothballs don't work. Even a jug of ammonia didn't work. It's buy a cantaloupe day.

don't carry semolina.

I admit I didn't make it clear this time and it was more than
ambiguous. I was referring ot the cake flour you mentioned.

I can find it at one high-end grocery store here, but not at Kroger or
the other ordinary stores. I haven't looked, but Whole Paycheck might
carry it as well.

Bob's Red Mill. You can order it online if you really want it.

For what it's worth, Bryan. This from farmers in upstate NY, Sheldon's
area... Groundhogs dig a network of tunnels with several openings. They
kill the groundhog and put it back into an opening and fill in the hole
with dirt.

The rotting groundhog smell fills the tunnels and prevents other
groundhogs or animals from moving in. That's the common belief anyway.

I visited my inlaws at the end of the summer of 1979 and shot his
annoying groundhog that was eating up his garden. I thought we might
cook it but he stuffed down the nearest hole and covered that up with dirt.

This was in Galway, NY. A very small town...only a crossroad that
had the name.
