Note that the link above talked about flour tortiall but someone said
"Two months could be a little long, but as long as they don't look,
feel, or smell bad in any way they are probably safe".
I have
- Low Carb High Fiber, LARGE size gourmet tortilla - SELL BY 03-18-10:
I have 4 pieces left
- 96% Fat Free, MEDIUM Soft Taco - FR APR 24 10 B 10:46 (don't know
what FR means)
I also have fresh roti package (7 or 8 pieces left) - rotis are made
from whole tortilla - that I bought at an Indian store about 3 1/2
weeks ago . I had been eating out half the time and when I'm home and
when I remembered about them, I didn't feel like making dishes that'd
go with these tortilla and roti and so now, too much of all these
straing at me.
The tortillas still looks fine, visually that is. One time (a while
back), I was heating it in the microwave w/ no paper towel wrapped and
I put too many minutes by accidents and it came out really nice like
chips w/o burning but I haven't been able to accomplish that a few
times I tried.
Of course, I am going to eat them but if you were in similar situation
what woud you do?
Stand on the back deck and feed my mother's (G-d rest her soul) 'black
chickens'. (My mother had a whole flock of ravens and crows that she fed
religiously when she was alive, and I think the word spread we're good for
a free feed if they are in the neighborhood!!!). Tortilla's make really,
really good Frisbees.
How many Grateful Dead show have you been to? Tortilla frisbees are
very popular there!! I guess I am like your Mom- I always throw old
breads out for the crows- they can see you do it a mile away, and then
they sound the alarm for all of their friends!!
I routinely keep tortillas past their expiration date. When they get
moldy, I throw them out.
You can freeze the tortillas and roti.

I hate crows. They are mean birds that kill and
eat other birds and their eggs. They also caw loudly
all the time. A flock of them moved into here
a few weeks ago, and I can't wait for them to leave.
I guess I'm weird as I kinda like them- they are hilarious when they
walk. I like them better that seagulls, and they do clean up the
roadkill- yuk!! I find it amazing when I see them attacking hawks and
eagles- they really have balls!!
As my mother used to say 'they are all God's creatures and they deserve to
eat too!' hence hubby calling them my mother's 'black chickens'. She could
go out and start 'here birdie, birdie, birdie' and they would flock around
her waiting for their share. Never once did they go on the attack. I guess
they knew she cared about them.

I know they can be freezed and I should have when I bought the 2nd pkg
of Tortilla. I did put the 3 pkg of wheat pita bread in the freeezer
that day.) I bought the 2nd tortilla pkg because I didn't remember
whether I had any at home. It turned out I had an unopen pkg aside
from opened one (at that time). I was going to use them up but
unexpected chores arose making me end up eating on the road more than
I'd like. Then I bought the roti because I was in the same shopping
center of that store. Then I got more chores needing to be on the
road..
I am going to eat the large tortilla for breakfast - I used it this
morning; I heated cook it in a nonstick pan covered in a layer of
beaten egg mixed with brown sugar then roll the whole thing - and the
medium ones for early dinner (tacos or quesadilla) until they're all
gone. One piece of Roti will be used during the day.

We keep freeze them first, then them in the fridge. They are fine to eat
after weeks. Once in a while, the last tortilla in the bag might go
mouldy but that's rare.
Eat tortillas for breakfast. Warm them up briefly. Nice base for
fried/scrambled eggs.
The seem to be smart too--toolmaking smart. One of these days one of
them is going to figure out the "poke it with a pointy stick" paradigm
and there will be a New Bird Order.
Yup- I recall seeing a show that showed the crows dropping nuts onto a
bust street so that the tires would crack the shells. Then they would
wait for a red light and when traffic had stopped, they would swoop
down and get their freshly cracked nut- crazy!!
If you search youtube on I think it's "tool making crows" you'll find a
couple of experiments where crows bend a piece of wire to make a hook to
pull something out of a container. And they figure it out surprisingly
fast.
