Hi,

This probably a very strange question, I oven cooked couple of trouts
yesterday and it tasted bitter. How come? I put lemon, garlic, salt
and pepper inside with olive oil on the outside so it doesn't stick to
the foil.

Thanks,

Priss

I'm getting the feeling you ate the skin as well. Trout skin *is*
bitter. Some people enjoy it anyway if it's fried crispy, I am one of
them.

I love Rainbow Trout... caught/gutted/cooked/eaten within just a few
hours... Mmmm!!! Baked, Grilled, or Pan-Fried in cast-iron... however you
cook it... skin-on or skinless... It's delicious!!! -- especially in the
spring while the fiddleheads are being picked/pickled... Mmmmm!!!

"Rainbow Trout", c1975 by Gordon Lightfoot

In the name of love she came
This foolish winsome girl
She was all decked out like a rainbow trout
Swimmin' up stream in the world
And she said "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
In the name of love, kind sir I pray, in the name of love"

So I took her by the hand, she took me by the will
She was all dolled up like a blue eyed pup
Looking for something to spill
And she said "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
In the name of love, kind sir I pray, in the name of love"

In the name of love she came
This foolish winsome girl
She was all decked out like a rainbow trout
Swimmin' upstream in the world
And she said "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
And she gave one flip of the rainbow tip of her tail
And she swam back down

And she said "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
In the name of love, kind sir I pray, in the name of love"

And she said "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
In the name of love, kind sir I pray, in the name of love"

It may not have been gutted properly. There is something like a
gallbladder that can let something bitter into the flesh.

Might not have been properly cleaned.

I think lemon peel can taste bitter like that, use it for flavor, but don't
eat it.
Edrena, I catch it, if I kill it, I clean it, and I eat it, but mostly catch
& release.

if it was farmed fish (and if you purchased the trout, it was),
it might have been contaminated. you should have saved some and
taken it to the place you bought it and got your money back or
some replacement fish.
