Steak again. A well marbled petite filet seasoned well with course
ground black pepper and coursely ground salt. It had enough fat to not
require any sort of oil added to the pan cast iron pan to sear it
nicely. I cooked it to rare then seasoned it further with some dried
thyme. Turned it and tested it, perfectly cooked. No more than
med-rare. I finished it off in the pan with a pat of butter on top.
Great steak!

I cooked some wild rice to go with it. I started the wild rice on the
stovetop about 45 minutes before I started the cooking the steak. Took
it off the burner, covered it and set it aside. I steamed some frozen
cauliflower florets to go with it. Quite a tasty dinner. :)

Nothing fancy here. Some cranberry orange bread that has been in the freezer
for a while, and a piece of cheese. I hope to find better fare at Walmart
tomorrow. But then... Hope springs eternal!

That sounds delicious. We had leftover mostaccioli in Newman’s garlic
spaghetti sauce with yesterday’s meat loaf masquerading as meatballs.
Oh...and a simple lettuce salad with Olive Garden Italian dressing.
Yours was way better. I wish others in the house liked wild rice. OTOH, I
save money and time because they don’t.

Ah, good old Xanthan Gum, where would we be without it? And the
mysterious, omnipresent "Natural Flavor". We're not allowed to know
what it is. Makes you wonder...

I know! May your genetics carry you to an ancient finish. Otherwise, no
matter what you eat, you’re going to, you know, kick it.

And may you consume many more litres of Olive Garden Italian Dressing
before you're permanently transferred to the big Walmart in the sky.

I wish I'd gone to your house for dinner.

We didn't plan anything. I ended up with scrambled eggs. He had
some hummus, celery and pretzels.

We had grilled thick cut pork loin steaks with baked taters and baked
beans , green salad with fresh picked green onions . It's wet and chilly
out today , I'm leaning towards a beef and barley soup with fresh baked
rolls and a peach cobbler for dessert .

I find buying "broken" wild rice is less costly than the whole grass
grains. It tastes the same.
