The half&half at TJ's is Pasteurized. The half&half at ALDI is Ultra
Pasteurized. TJ's is $2.29/qt, and ALDI's is $1.89/qt. The better taste
is, IMO, worth the 40 cents.

That you notice 40 cents at all is pretty sad.

Best of all is a local dairy with small batch gently pasteurized. Ultra pasteurized kills everything that makes any flavor at all.

I understand that the new MEGA Pasteurized is $1.29. I'm waiting for
the Super Mega Maxi-Pasteurized. It's FREE!

Ultra Pasteurized is the only stuff I'll buy for the office refrigerator. It's more expensive because I have to buy it in half-gallons but it keeps for months. I just get the cheapest milk in gallons for home. I can't say if it's UP or not.

The Bwrrryan has just proven to the entire world that he never
graduated High School... the 40¢ difference applies equally to both
products but nowhere does the fruitcake indicate which tastes
better... Bwrrryan writes like a third grader, even more poorly than
the Bove.

So you buy flavored water. Cause it's not milk anymore.

People are probably putting it in coffee. If so, does it really matter?

The pasteurization process does not change milk's basic nature. Is a
steak no longer meat if it's cooked? Your line of reasoning is highly
illogical but people with faulty thinking is not a problem for me. I
believe it gives me an advantage over them. Am I a bad person? :)

Of course not, and pasteurized orange juice is still OJ!

I call stuff bought solely for such use "whitener" so we don't have to
debate cream, milk, milk solids, melamine, et al.

It is true that I did not graduate from high school. I tested out at 16, then
didn't go back to school until I was 26, and proceeded to graduate with a 2-year
associate's degree in general transfer studies from St. Louis Community College,
with a 4.0 GPA. Then, I went to the U. of MO-St. Louis, majoring in sociology,
and was taking 2 graduate level soc classes in spring of '96, and I got so bored
with them that I just quit going and took Fs in both. All true, Sheldon.

A few months later, I started The Bonobos.

It is easy to infer that the more expensive product was the better tasting one.
Otherwise, my post would have made no sense.

Ultra Pasteurized milk tastes cooked, which I find awful. I do buy cartons of
Ultra Pasteurized, aseptic packaged milk which I use to make probiotic cultured
milk, which has the consistency of small curd cottage cheese. It's stinky
stuff, but after rinsing, it doesn't have much flavor, but has health benefits.

I don't believe that Pasteurization makes milk unhealthful, but I do find that
the more minimal the Pasteurization, the better the flavor. You mention steak,
and I like steak cooked rare, or at most, medium rare.

ImStillMags cares more about flavor, whereas you care more about shelf life.
That does not make you a bad person.

But you must admit that the flavor is diminished.

Another good thing about TJ's, RAW PISTACHIOS ARE IN! They are raw, in the shell.
They do need salt, but that's easy enough. Yay!
