Oh very ! I have several hundred albums saved as MP3 files and other
formats on my computers . But there's just a certain something about
analog sourced music , a warmth if you will , that is just not present
in digital files . I also have several hundred albums on vinyl , reel
tape and (cough) cassette .

My wife's favorite Cat tune is Hard Headed Woman ... one who'll make
me do my best ... since I found my hard headed woman the rest of my life
has been blessed .

As I kid I lusted for reel - to - reel...for Christmas 1968 my folks got me a small Sears Silvertone r-t-r, it took 3 1/4 reels...

A few years later I worked a summer job in order to buy a snazzy 1973 TEAC r-t-r tape deck, thought I'd died and reached audio heaven...kept working that job in order to buy the pre-recorded reel tapes, they were expensive...got a bunch from the Columbia Tape Club, others I got in Chicago at the old Rose Records on Wabash...

That's totally understandable.

Most of my prerecorded stuff came from a record club , as did a
portion of my albums . Same music , same artists , same quality as the
music store on the corner - and in the end about the same price .

I recorded that album to reel to reel back when I was a kid too. Late
70's.

  I wasn't a kid , I was married and in my late 20's . The theory was
to record all my vinyl albums to tape upon purchase , them put them up
and listen to the tape . Tape cost turned out to be too much ...

That would have worked in order to save the original LPs in
almost mint condition for high resale many years later. I've got
almost 600 lps. Some from the 60's, most from the 70's, and a few
from the early 80's. Even some that might be valuable now are
not. The buyers now seem to only want the mint condition ones.
Mine are in great shape but well used.

Whatever value they might have had by now was destroyed by
Mr.Kitty who, for 19 years, claimed my LP collection as his
scratching post. Only the thin edges were shredded but enough to
kill any value.

The reel to reel was something I used infrequently, but by default I
would always buy a new album and tape it to cassette and listen to it
that way... mainly to preserve the vinyl.

The only way this could be more interesting is if you were hearing
it on your klipsh speakers that your plumber installed out on your
purple patio.
