Hello,
I am looking for a recipe for the Orange Julius(in the USA) or the Orange
JUlep(in Montreal, I don't know about the rest of Canada) recipe. I have
found Orange Julep in the stores, which is a lot cheaper than buying at
the Orange Julep restaurant, but I would think that these recipes, or at
least close replica's would exist out there somewhere.
Thank in advance,
Joseph
Mix ingredients in blender until they reach a slushy
consistency. Makes enough for four tall glasses.

From a log house
in Maple Valley, Washington
6 ounce can orange juice concentrate, frozen
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1/2 sugar
6 ice cubes
Place all ingredients in blender. Blend until thoroughly mixed and ice is
crushed. Serve immediately. Makes 3 to 4 servings.
1 Cup Orange Juice
1 Cup Water
2 Egg Whites
3/4 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1/4 Cup granulated sugar
1 Heaping Cup Chopped Ice
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and set on high speed for
exactly 1 minute.
Someone who recreates "famous recipes" made this on the Donahue show a
year or so ago, and he used orange juice, milk, etc., but added instant
vanilla pudding to the mixture. I am sorry I don't remember his name
(or her name--can't recall) but there is a cookbook that has recipes
for Big Macs, Ky. Fried Chicken, Reese Cups, etc. that includes the
Orange Julius recipe.
>Hello,

Here's one, from a book called "Top Secret Recipes":
1 C orange juice
1 C water
2 egg whites (or 1/4 C milk, if you don't want to use egg whites)
3/4 tsp Vanilla extract
1/4 C sugar
1 C ice
Combine all ingredients and blend at high speed for one minute. Makes
2 drinks.
My way is easier. There's a chain of health food stores around called
GNC, and they sell a product called 100% Egg Protein. I get the
vanilla flavor, and add a scoop to some orange juice and ice cubes in
a blender. Makes a good Orange Julius substitute. I also mix frozen
sweetened strawberries, water, and the powder for a strawberry julius
(or canned pineapple....etc, etc.)
My favorite is a bunch of watermelon (seeds removed) with a little of
the protein powder and a little sugar added, again mixed in the
blender.

Here are a couple of Julius recipes:

Pineapple Julius
Recipe By :
Serving Size : 2 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Beverages Breakfast
Brunch
Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
8 ozs crushed pineapple in juice
2 egg whites
3/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 c sugar
1 c water
1 c crushed ice
Blend on high for about 1 minute, maybe a little more if you want it less
frozen.
Try 1 cup frozen strawberries, thawed, instead of the pineapple for a
strawberry julius.
If you don't want to use the egg whites, you might try a product sold at
GNC, called 100% Egg Protein (vanilla flavor). It's mainly powdered egg
white, with vanilla flavoring and aspartame.
It will make a great "julius" of any flavour.
Careful, though-a little goes a long way. If you use a 1 oz scoop per
drink as the label suggests, the drink will be pretty thick. A tablespoon
may be enough.

This recipe looks like what they do in the restaurant but I've never had
the guts to ask them.

Simple syrup is equal amounts of sugar and water cooked over low heat
until sugar crystals dissolve. Used in beverages and alcholic drinks.
This is typed from memory but a good recipe would be:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Stir sugar and water over low heat until crystals dissolve. Let cool and
use in needed recipe.

No, the main ingredients are lactose and some other sugar.
We actually talked an employee into revealing that, about
25 years ago.
My father and I managed to make a perfect fake with these
ingedients.

What is simple surup?
Moe
I answered this question earlier, perhaps it hasn't made it to your news
group yet, but simple syrup is just sugar and water cooked together. It
is used mainly in beverages and alcholic drinks.
From memory:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Place ingredients in small saucepan. Cook over low heat until sugar
granules dissolve. Let cool before using. The formula is equal parts of
sugar and water.
