It has been suggested perhaps she was (like him) bi-polar. Back then
she would have been called manic-depressive. Likely misunderstood, not
diagnosed or not taking her medication. Much like him, except she
didn't have ranting to Usenet as an outlet.

With all due respects, she probably had no idea what she had spawned.
One might have hoped that they guy, who claims to be a health
professional, would realize the hereditary nature of her affliction and
then use that information to try to seek proper help for the problem
that he inherited from her. Neglecting it could lead to him following in
her footsteps.

I could not have. I saved her once when I came home one morning from my job at the donut shop to find her laying on the kitchen floor and all her pill bottles on the counter empty. She appeared comatose so I called The Operator (no 911 service in 1981!) and they sent an ambulance. In the hospital the next day when I went to see her she was ANGRY with me for "saving her life"! So she found another way to do it and on December 22 (day after my brother/her son's birthday decided to drive the family's 1969 Impala into the Mississippi River from Wharf Street downtown STL. THAT did the deed! :-(

Thank you very much! My father and I visually identified her Mississippi mud covered dead face/body lying on The Slab! :-(

Thanks! Yeah, there was ONE time I missed my Mom very badly, just after my Ex and I split up! But I realized that was when I really needed was ME!

And I've taken care of myself ever since!

Committing suicide by driving into a river isn't logical. How many
people kill themselves by putting a plastic bag over their head?

It's more likely she was killed by her husband or son if John's
terming it as a "suicide".
