Many years ago, there was a news show just about that. They interviewed one
"bum" and he was candid and honest. He lived in New Jersey in a decent
home. Each morning, M-F, he would put on his "homeless clothes" and commute
to a nice section of New York City. I believe he frequented the Wall Street
area? Not sure now as it's been about 20 years since I watched this. He also
said that sometimes he would wear nice clothes and more ppl believed that he
wasn't a bum but a decent fellow just down on his luck.

So anyway, he claimed that he averaged about $300 per day (this is 20 years
ago), tax free since it was cash and he didn't report it. His wife worked a
normal job that provided a taxed income that covered their bills if the IRS
ever looked at them. heheheh
