I haven't seen her show for ages. Slow day so I watched an episode. She is
sporting a set of sweater kittens like I never remember her having before.
Are those fakes or maybe she is actually eating food for a change?

I think they've been making her wear lower cut tops the last couple of

She had a baby girl, named Jada or Jade, or something like that. Giada
is Italian for jade, IIRC. So the baby's name is the same as Giada's,
just a different 'format', so to speak. It was something I'd heard
Giada, or someone else, discuss one time or another on some TV show
after her baby was born.

I used to watch her, until the novelty wore off. Now I don't. Mainly
because I find her food boring, and the camera work during her show shits
me to tears!!!

If I wanted to watch blurry TV, I'd drink a bottle of Scotch and do it.

Same same as these idiots that think that having the camera zoom in and
out, and rock from side to side makes good watching. It does for the first
10 seconds, and then I never watch their show ever again!!

Giada's credentials as a chef are genuine. She attended Le Cordon Bleu
and has other relevant experience. It's never wise to judge any book by
its cover or physical appearance, eh!

She is a private chef for parties etc., now if she was without
substance she could not do the job. Being not hard to look perhaps
doesn't hurt either.

Heh :)

Actually, I think that is what initially irritated me about Giada was
her appearance, and how she presents herself. I'm certainly no prude,
but women who present themselves like that (Nigella included) turns me
off. I prefer natural beauty without resorting to revealing clothes,
overdone makeup, etc.

In Detroit, Polish delis sell rye bread with Nigella seeds ("black
caraway") on top. Pretty tasty if you ask me.

She's always been chesty (you weren't paying attention), and she has

When she was a sous chef on ICA I could not tell if her name was Amber
Ell or Anne Burell. I was not impressed with the format of the worst of
the worst show but i've liked her in other shows.

He's a hoot. I don't even know if he has any current shows where he
cooks. We've been to several of the places he has featured on Diners,
Drive-Ins and Dives. They run about 50-50 for foot quality. A couple
have been horrible. This weekend we went to a BBQ place that was
excellent.

Yeah, I agree. Guy Fieri's reviews and raves about diners & such across
the USA is about 50-50 for the food quality. Spouse and I've tried a
few places he's spotlighted on his show. "Mancie's" in Daphne, AL is
definitely a place to rave about, but it's probably best to avoid the
"Maid Rite" in Springfield, IL <----- lhe latter was not very good,
IMO. There's another place in Springfield, IL we want to try next time
we're in that area, someplace that's a converted "military quanset (sp?)
hut" type of building that supposedly has fantastic haystacks - I think
it's called "Charlie Parkers" (?).

The Maid-Rite in Marshalltown, Ia. - they know how to do it. And they
buy the sides of beef and cut it up on site.

Charlie Parker's is a franchise, I believe -

Speaking of Fieri, apparently he's taken on the role of a game-show
host - "A Minute to Win It," or something like that - they've been
advertising it very heavily during the Olympics. People do silly
things in 60 seconds, and can win $1M.

There was a chilli dog place in Chicago metro north. Went there. It
sucked. There was a gyros place in Chicago metro south. Went there.
There was a for sale sign at the front door. The quality of the food
was low enough it definitely needed a new owner.

On the other hand also in Chicago metro we tried Tre Kroner and Honkey
Tonk BBQ. They ruled. I could write poems about the beef ribs at
Honkey Tonk BBQ they were so good.

A beef rib, it's prime rib, best wear a bib.
Mustard sauce, smokey sauce, tooth pick and floss.
Smell the smoke, let it soak, you won't go broke.

As poetry goes it's not prize winning, but when have I ever written a
poem about food before? ;^)

We go to Springfield, IL annually for the state Freemason convention.
Thanks for the pointers, will look up Charlie Parkers.

When it comes to the looks of the chefs in this thread I'm biased. Anne
Burell doesn't look like a 20 year younger version of my wife. Nope.

I have no clue if Charlie Parker's is or isn't a franchise. Their
website - http://www.charlieparkersdiner.net/ - doesn't seem to give
that appearance. The menu is interesting. What I thought was a
haystack is called a "breakfast shoe." Oh, Oh!! One thing I noticed
from their website - the restaurant is open daily only until 2pm!!

I like Anne Burell. I like the way she talks and I like the way she
cooks. Not fond of all the salt, but at least she's up-front about
why. It may be good for that occasional restaurant meal but not every
day. I blow up like a balloon when I have that much salt at every

How do you know it's affected? Is it the fact that she strikes all men as
a goddess? But of the green monster lurking behind that sideswipe? :-)

I assure you, it's not affected, it's upper class British, something you
are obviously in short acquaintance with. Her father was Chancellor of the
Exchequer (equiv., Minister of Finance) for the UK, she was educated at
Oxford. Should she behave like a chav just to please the easily
disgruntled? Of course not. She may not behave in exactly the same
fashion in private, but that is none of your bidness.

FWIW, I play wargames with a fellow who is a professor of classics at the
university here and he speaks with a full-on Oxford accent. It never
occurred to me that he was affected in any way. Perhaps I should ask him.
Can I give him your e-mail if he has any questions?

He's not my professor, just a wargaming buddy. We play real wargames with
maps and counters and stuff, tables and pages and pages of rules.

I do play at World of Warcraft. I started playing with my son and his
friends when he was at university, but I didn't like the PvP server they
were on (got tired of being ganked every ten minutes) so I paid the fee and
moved my best character to an RP one. I played for two years mostly as an
NE Hunter but I stopped for a while after he hit level 80 as there wasn't
anything interesting to do anymore, and started up again around Christmas.
My DK is coming along just fine so I have to decide if I want to renew my
sub this month or not.

My son expresses no interest in WoW anymore, just as it looks like you'll
be able to use flying mounts in Azeroth in the next installment (levels 80-
85).

She's not a goddess to me. I find her very annoying and phony. When
she did the morning talk show she was nauseating. You'd think she was
the only chick who ever got pregnant. And her head it too big for her
body. I'll take my pudgy middle-aged girl-next-door over your goddess

I recently thought of starting a porn thread. But the more i thought
about it the more pointless it became.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I thought that if people posted links to images of what they
individually thought were the absolutely most handsome & beautiful could
produce a collection of really 'top drawer' A+ examples of human beauty
in form.

I posted a few quickly found examples earlier.

http://www.gymjox.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/denissergovkiy-4.jpg
http://www.gymjox.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/football-muscle-asses-eric-morris-danny-amendola.jpg
http://www.furtherfitness.com/new-york-fitness/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/dmny2_1946_18523492.jpg
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/16/90927755_80f7a83a75.jpg

Without putting a great deal of thought or time into collecting the images.

There are lots of classical images of beauty. And not a few modern,
representational images. Some is even "porn". Which since this is not
a binaries group only links could be posted to. But that's where the
idea seemed to break down.

Some people will undoubtedly try to convince others that the vilest
thing they can find is really an expression of what they find "beautiful."

And while one can make an philosophical exception to the phenomena in a
philosophical discussion, it would be out of place in a discussion of
human beauty of form.

Even to make the argument that there is a nobility in suffering as an
excuse to post links to images of death and brutality or torture would
indicate a diseased mind i don't want to point out its illness to, even
if not especially as mere general conversation on the human aesthetic.

Abstractly a good idea but wouldn't work well in an unmoderated group.

Pity really, there's this German lad, an "Under Armor" model....

Big biddy deal!!

I used to be an (Military) instructor at the University of Queensland,
trying to teach highly educated university students how to be soldiers.

Notice I said "trying".

I've noticed one thing about 'university people'..... they may be highly
intelligent', but in the real world they are as dumb as dogshit.

Most wouldn't have 1oz of common sense between them.

Case in point........ our Prime Minister.

I've spent many hours in his office talking over certain issues (usually
concerning ex-service personnel) and whilst he can speak Mandarin and
sound rather educated, he's as dumb as dogshit.

Now, go back to playing with your toy soldiers.

Why dont you give us an example of what you consider an ideal beauty?

(I have a pic of that German lad without a shirt! :)

I could come up with a few, the old playboy artist "Vargas" did a few
that were just stunning!

Are you familiar with Michelangelo's "Doni Tondo"?

Manet did an exquisite Venus but i like the sky better than the naked
"girl."

I wouldn't go so far as to say "ideal" beauty....... I find a lot of women
very attractive, and they aren't usually the ones in a glossy mag.

I like real, I don't like fake.

I also used to go past a paddock with a large pond in it, that horse used to
drink at. Usually went past close to sunset, and I had some *stunning* pics
from there....... they're probably still floating around the Net somewhere. I
used to wait (up to 45mins) for the light to be just *so* and then snap off
about 3-4 shots. And then continue on my way to pick up an irate SO because I
was late :-)

You still haven't answered my previous...... is there something in the pics
that you've chosen that tells us something about you???

Yep........ the only picture (as far as I know) of the "Holy Family" with
male nudes in the background.

Where ever you plan to "stick" anything aside,

Sat Nam Sri Wha Guru Deva.

Blessings and honor to the great female teacher.

Nature. Isis. Gaia. That which we were having become what we are.

I think Michel is talking about Nigella and you're talking about Giada.

I think Meg Ryan to be a real beauty, and not phony like a great

It isn't anything like that, I assure you. There is no hint of sex per se
in her approach. Hell, she doesn't even do cleavage (at least on the
cooking show), unlike Giada, not that there is anything wrong with that.
No, it's more like a pleasant half-hour with someone who is sensuous about
what she does in front of the camera, cooking. And she obviously does it
well enough that the ratio of women to men who dislike her on this group is
around 10:1 (that 1 is Lou).

When I say she is the goddess, I am of course referring to her callypigian
proportion or, as Precious Ramotswe said, "a woman of traditional
proportion" which got her into trouble as I recall.

Somehow, I doubt that. The very beginning of your statement implies that
you are predisposed, and heavily biased, AGAINST people with a university
background which of course is a contribution to society, not its entire
makeup, much as the military are a contribution to society, not its entire
makeup, or business is a contribution to society, not its entire
makeup...see where I'm going here?

Yep. I traced the thread back and found where I got mixed up. My
fault. In either case I don't see this goddess thing.

How do you know? It's quite obvious from the prissy names and writing
style that most "Women" here are in fact hairy fat guys called Bob who
are squeezed into their mother's pantyhose. You can tell from the
continual fake bonhomie and references to "hubbies dinner".
