No other postings about the carpet cleaning job, either. But if he has
applied for Social Security I'm sure someone had to help him or even
take him to their office. His pc's are so ancient, I'm sure they'd fail to
connect to the site to apply.

I really like the song - the tune and instrumentals.
That's music that I do like.

The singer *ruined* it completely though.
Bryan should have added him to his death list.

My brothers-in-law gave Bob, who was hitchhiking, a ride to his home in Pittsburgh. He told them that he was a singer/songwriter. My brothers-in-laws had been living in Germany for a while and were not interested in folk singers. They had no clue as to who he was. They asked him to sing one of his songs. They said it was the worst caterwauling they had ever heard. I don't think he ever convinced them that he made a living out of singing his songs.

At the end of the 60's, Dylan was considered to be a washed-up, has-been. That was when my brother-in-laws picked him up. They went to his house and he showed them the cover of his new album that was going to be released. My B-I-L didn't care about his new album - they were promised some weed for the ride and thought he was flaking out on them. Alas, there was none in his house. Dylan was a clean-living, washed-up, has-been. My bros had to go out into the cold, dark, streets of Pittsburgh to get their dope. The album dropped, it was a radical departure into the country genre. And the rest is history - Dylan was back on top, baby!

Bob Dylan is a great song writer. Bob Dylan does not have the same
grace when he's singing. Peter Paul and Mary did wonderful versions of
several Dylan songs.

There is a Bob Dylan 30th anniversary concert album that has an all star
line up including Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Chrissie Hynde, The OJays,
George Harrison, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The songs are all
great ... until Bob Dylan comes on.

A lot of people love Leonard Cohen's song writing but don't have much
appreciation for his singing. Jennifer Warnes did an album covering
Cohen's songs. Famous Blue Rain Coat (The Songs of Leonard Cohen).

Mr. Dylan might be a great song writer. It depends on who you ask. My guess is that the ride with my brother-in-laws left a big impression on him. Any trip with those boys is an adventure. They were moving house with two trucks and a U-Haul. Along the way, they blew a couple of tires and a head gasket. The way they figure it, "Three Angels" had some references to the experience. The lady in the orange dress might be my sister-in-law.

Very true, Bry-ant. You were a singer in a band once too. Didn't they
fire you because of your singing?

You also wrote a book once, doing with it as you liked.

Moral of this: Feel free to express yourself any way you like but if you
hope to make money from your creativity you need listen to what the
public wants/likes and compromise.

This Flight Attendant Fell From 33,000 Feet — and Lived For 44 Years

by Gary Leff on January 26, 2023

Just over fifty years ago Vesna Vulović fell out of the sky from 30,000 feet – and lived.

Vulović was a flight attendant on JAT Yugoslav Airlines Flight 367 on January 26, 1972. The flight was scheduled to operate from Stockholm to Copenhagen to Zagreb and then on to Belgrade with a DC-9. Instead it crashed in what was then Czechoslovakia.

The plausibility of her survival was the subject of an episode of Mythbusters.

She passed away in 2016.

The most common explanation for what happened after departing Copenhagen is that the plane was destroyed by an explosion caused by a bomb which was placed there by Croatian terrorists.

After taking off from Copenhagen there are 28 people on board, 23 passengers and 5 crew. Vesna Vulović, 22 years old, is one of the 3 flight attendants that along with the pilot and the copilot have replaced the crew that departed from Sweden. She is working in this flight because the person organising the rotas mixed her up with another colleague also called Vesna. But Vulović was happy about it all since she had always wanted to visit Denmark’s capital and sleep in the Sheraton.

Here’s what makes the story more shocking and miraculous: Vesna Vulović was near the rear of the aircraft when the plane exploded at over 30,000 feet. She was pinned to the back of the plane and fell to earth in the tail of the aircraft. The fall was broken by trees and landed in thick snow. And she survived, holding the world’s record for a fall without a parachute.

Her screams led to her rescue, though she later fell into a coma for some time. Her skull was fractured. Her ribs were broken. So were her legs and her pelvis. And though she was paralyzed from the waist down, she eventually recovered and even returned to work for the airline. She reported having no memory of the crash, however — just boarding the plane, and then waking up in the hospital.

Vulović was fired by JAT in 1990 for political activities against Slobodan Milošević. Milošević resigned in 2000, was arrested in 2001 and tried for war crimes, and died in 2006. So she outlasted him by a decade. And the successor to JAT, of course, is Air Serbia.

Just to add to your embarrassment I like him too. We have something in
common, kind of like we're brothers.

They didn't rate her in the top 200 vocalists of all time, or something.
Somehow, it became a big deal.
It shows that some dopey magazine can still inflame minds.

I think she's rather average. On the other hand, 200 is a lot of
singers. Maybe she could have been rated #195?

Perhaps he was drunk when you saw him - or maybe he wasn't drunk enough.

LOL. The music itself is not much but the video is so strange, I love
it. Worth a second look. I love the muppet trumpet player.

I've always liked Neil Diamond music. Many of my friends thought I was
very odd for that. Maybe I am but I don't care. :)

Been a few years but we went to a Neil Diamond concert. It was great,
no BS, just pure entertainment and him singing. I have a couple of CDs too.

I liked Harry Chapin too. He raised a lot of money for World Hunger.
After concerts he would sign his books and T-shirts and money went to
charity. We were waiting off to the side waiting for the line to
subside and we were talking to a woman there also. When only a few
people were left, she says "let's go over and I'll introduce you to my
husband"

I can understand why they thought that. When I was first dating my wife
she bought me a Neil Diamond album. That was when it became apparent
that we had different tastes in music.

I always figured that Neil Diamond was for squares. I don't know why. He just has the effect on me. Maybe his songs were too epic - but in a bad way.

Nothing wrong with that. It's hard to not sing along when "Cracklin'
Rose" comes on the radio. I like most Gordon Lightfoot music also. In
fact, I like almost anything that comes on (depending on the station),
so as long as it isn't Elton John.

Early Elton John isn't bad. And even later Elton John's better than
Neil Diamond. Neil Diamond's music for biddies and fuddy-duddies (and
Gary). He's in the Kenny Rogers, Barbara Streisand category.

Fuck off, Kookthe. You're a loser and a failure.
