The status on the website has displayed "Packing Order" and the
recipients of this gift never received it. I emailed them at every
address I could find on the web site. I tried calling but the 888
number is disconnected. I filed a complaint with the Better Business
Bureau and they have had no response either.
Has anyone had experience with American spice.com - either positive or
negative?
I am out $129.36
You are either a liar or an idiot. Maybe both.
For over two what, seconds??? For an order you placed over two years
ago...

You're a certifiable imbecile... they answer their phone, very
politely I may add... and it's not an 888 number: 877-307-7423
Assuming you paid with a credit card, have you contacted your card
company about it? There's usually some guarantee involved with
purchases.

Usually one needs to invoke this within 60 days of initial
billing, not two years later.
It's a bit of a PITA, because even if you believe the vendor
will act in good faith and make delivery, if they haven't
done so in the 60 day window you need to routinely have your bank
reject the charge. Otherwise you're (usually) SOL (unless
you're more persuasive with banks than I've managed to be).
Steve
there is really no need to call me an imbecile. Not very polite I may
add.
By the way, the number you provided is no longer in service.
================
If you didn't call your credit card company to cancel the charge within
minutes of discovering the problem, you are indeed an imbecile. Did you
really place the order in November of 2005 ?
I really did. Because it was a wedding gift, I didn't find out for
quite a while that it was not received. By then two months plus had
past, so I could not call my credit card company. I have been trying
to call/email ever since. They have never responded to one email from
me, yet I continue to get promotional emails from them. Here is the
list of email addresses I've written to: promo...@americanspice.com;
webo...@americanspice.com; ws...@americanspice.com;
n...@TekInteractive.com; infor...@americanspice.com;
ma...@americanspice.com
Perhaps they will notice this post and finally contact me?
Not a chance.

I doubt it.

You are really out of luck. Contact Indiana's attorney general. If you can't
figure out how, you don't want your money badly enough.

June 12, 2006 Attorney General Carter Files Lawsuit against Fort Wayne
Internet Spice Company
Seeks Restitution for 12 consumers who paid for products they never received
Indianapolis, IN - The Great American Spice Company and its owner Daniel
Turkette are the subjects of a lawsuit filed in Allen County Circuit Court
by Attorney General Steve Carter. The Fort Wayne Company operates an
Internet website, http://www.americanspice.com/, where it sold various items
to12 consumers and failed to deliver the products.

Not any more. That may have been the case many years ago. My
experience with credit card companies recently is that they side with
the vendor in all disputes.

This is a reason not to drop-ship gifts unless you know
you will hear from the recipient. I always mail the
stuff myself. But then, I'm down at the post office
nearly every day so it's not a big deal.

Oh dear, yes I have. One of the guys at work ordered some flavoring
from this site (it's a food production plant). We never got it, but
they charged the company credit card quick enough. The site just
kept saying the order was being processed -- calls and e-mails were
ignored. I finally called our CC company and had the charge reversed.
Try that, it might help...

Perhaps it depends on the card company. As I mentioned upthread, I had
to dispute a charge from AmericanSpice.com with Chase and we got our
money back, pronto...

I just realized your complaint is over 2 years old. You probably don't
have a case anymore...

Out of curiousity, do you recall whether you disputed the charge
within 60 days of the date of the bill on which the charge appeared?
My experience is banks are extremely reluctant to reverse a
charge after that time. In the OP's case I'd provide the
bank with the information about this vendor and the Indiana AG
going after them, to see if that has any affect.
Steve
Michael, we have perfect research which proves that 54% of the population is
stupid. As comedian Ron White said, "You can't fix stupid".
I took action as soon as I found out the gift wasn't received.
Initaily I assumed the wedding couple hadn't gotten around to writing
thank you letters yet.
When I found out they never got it I attempted to contact
americanspice.com via phone and email.
I also filed a complaint with the better Business Bureau in Indiana.
At this time I am looking to generate some negative publicity around
the webosphere to hurt americanspice.com and also to help anyone who
may be looking to do business with them in the future. Thanks to all of
you - I think I've succeeded.
I also wouldn't mind recovering my money, but I realize it's a long
shot.
The BBB has no authority or ability to help you at this point, so you can
forget that idea.
Earlier in the discussion, I taught you that you needed to call the Indiana
attorney general's office. I assume you've done this by now. What were the
results of that conversation?
>The question I have is why did it take 2 years for the original poster to

I get the impression the OP has been complaining at some level
for the past two years, even though she did not post her complaint
here until yesterday.
Steve
It was within the 60 days, I'm pretty sure. Unfortunately, as I'm
currently laid off, I can't double check...

Not necessarily. American Express IME has been quite expeditious in
dealing with "problems"...

We use to have Amex at home (we've cut down to one credit card since
then), and we had to complain about an online video store. We bought
a copy of "The Century" that never arrived. Amex credited us right
away...
