Natural Ice

Much better than the even cheaper lite beer you claim not to drink now.
You just named it recently - Milwaukee's Best Lite?

My father used to keep bottles of that in the fridge. I haven't seen

Back then, it is what was available. Only a few national brands and a
lot of local stuff, many long gone.

Coors was never shipped east of the Rockies, Lite beer did not exist.
Most here have never heard of Ortliebs, Schmidts, Esslinger, popular
brands from Philadelphia.

You can see the trend over the decades here

Adding water to drinks is nice if you do it your own way. I do it with coca
cola. But once mixed I put them into two 20ounce coke bottles and stick
them in the freezer. They have to be cold. Which brings me to my theory -
exceptions to all rules of course - that people who like to drink things super
cold probably don't really like what they're drinking.

Anyway, I drank every day for 10 years to the point of passing out when
I hung at the poolroom in Hollywood. Later when I took to driving cab I
put more routine into my beer drinking. I still got brutal hangovers but I
had a job and couldn't go too far with it. I developed a routine where I
drank only one 12 once beer an hour. I did this by filling a large plastic
cup with ice and pouring the beer over it. Then I'd sip it out of a straw
to make it last longer. I enjoyed the taste of it. Had to keep adding ice
cubes every now and then to keep the temp from rising. I'd rather add
my own water to things than buy any companies rendition.

I'm from Pa and drank a lot of local beers. Cheap stuff, nothing special.
Funny though, all my life a big beer drinker (I preferred hard liquor but
beer took longer to hit and I wanted to last at least 8 hours, till they shut
the pool tables down) - then I went back to Pa then came down here to
NC 30 years ago and picked up loads of college kids from the bars in
the cab. They were all abuzz over Yuengling beer, made in either Pottstown
or Pottsville, both pretty close to Allentown. But I never heard of the stuff
till I came to North Carolina. It was a big thing with the college kids down
here. Maybe elsewhere too. I believe they say they are the nations oldest
brewery.

Old costs, yes. They were good.

I have about 600 lps -
Some from the 60s, most from the 70s and a few from the 80s.
In the 1970s, they cost about $4.00 each.

My very first 2 were "Meet the Beatles" and the "Beatles 2nd Album."

I haven't drank MBL in years, and Natural Ice is cheaper
per alcohol content. I've had beer exactly once since
November, and that was recently when my son and I
went out to his land to get ready to start building the
cabin. That beer was:
https://www.google.com/shopping/product/2902488457716810390

Natural Ice (and MB Ice) is hobo beer. It's potent and
cheap. It tastes bad, but that's expected, and either
are far better choices that Budweiser, which is the
beer that I was referring to as "vomit-worthy," and is
significantly more expensive than AB's "Natural* line.

The "gold dust" in the song refers to cocaine - naturally.
