What is the traditional Christmas dinner in Japan?

I forget the 2 other choices which sounded valid but the odd answer was
actually the correct one. It's KFC chicken dinners. wow and lol

Carol here has lived in Japan and often mentioned food there. Wonder why
she never mentioned this one?

She might have never mentioned it but I certainly did.

It wasn't that notable in Sasebo, but then I wasn't at the 'Ginza'
(local name for it, big semi open mall) where the nearest KFC was, at
23-25Dec. I do know KFC was popular there.

True, Turkey is 'unobtaineum' in Japan, at least in Sasebo, outside the
Commissary. Come to think of it, our version of Ham was missing too?
Lots of pork, just not cured ham. Not that I recall anyways.

I think I only managed to be home for Thanksgiving 3 times? I know I
missed 1st, 4th, 5th. I pulled in morning of the 2nd but had duty and
ship opened to family so Don brought Charlotte and we had a nice meal.

Revise, It was 3.5 'missed' (one being a half miss as a duty day) I
was only home and fixing dinner for the 3rd and 6th. Transferred
stateside the month before the 7th would have been. (Roughly early Feb
2001-late Oct2007). A little over 6 years, 8 months.

Ham might be hard to find in Japan but torihamu is supposed to be a popular substitute.

I think I had something like it a few times in Sasebo Bento boxes?

Anyways, we got ham at the commissary but in slices or small rolls, and
a few times in small cans (Dak). Most of the time there we didn't have
a car so everything had to be carried back. Made our choices also
limited by weight. It got easier once you could get a taxi on base
around 2005 (Sasebo was very restrictive after 9/11 and longer than
other bases).
