Help recomondations needed

I need a new 6 quart pressure cooker. (I got mine in the 60s.) It
just won't seal anymore and no parts available. I've always had a
stove top pressure cooker. That is still what I would prefer to have
as I don't like the pre-set times that come with an electric cooker.
It does seem, however, that non-electric cookers are almost a thing of
the past. Have any of you gotten a non-electric cooker in the last
couple of years? If so, which brand and are you happy with it?
However, I am realistic. Which electric pressure cooker is the bees
knees currently, do you have one, do you like it? I don't want one
with the browning element on top because that element top is not
removable and will get in my way..

I saw a stove top pressure cooker last night at Sears. If it had been one that works on an induction range, I would have got it. They had several pressure cookers of that type but mostly they're made of aluminum which won't work on my range.

My preference would be just a simple cooker like the one I had while growing up. You can get the seals on eBay if you have a fairly popular one. You can get everything on eBay - especially pressure cooker parts.

A few years ago, I bought a 6 litre Fagor pressure cooker at Costco.
I've been very pleased with it. It's stainless, with a thick aluminium
base, and has an induction-compatible bottom. The seal is silicone,
rather than rubber, so should last considerably longer than the
old-style rubber ones. Two pressure settings, and a quick release.

thank you. I had been searching pressure cookers on the 'Net and was
surprised that Fagor didn't show up. At your recommendation I went
back and specifically searched for Fagor. I will get a Fagor as it
has the quality I was looking for. Thanks again

No, but there are lots still available in the UK.
Mine is a 50 yr old Prestige, spare parts still available

I remember seeing Alton Brown's "Good Eats" episode on pressure cookers and
really recommended the Fagor.

I have two extra sealing rings for my ancient Prestige! Thinking about
it though, not sure what I will do if the thingy (what do you call that
thing on top that releases the steam?) goes awol <g> I rarely use it these
days though, I tend to use my Air fryer and slow cooker, but it's there if I
need it:)))
