I bought a new Kitchen Aid toaster and just tried it out for the first
time. I took out the instruction manual and noticed it was in both
English and French.

I figured, I'll follow the instructions in the French section, they had
diagrams, easy to follow. Put the bread in, pushed the lever down and
in a couple of minutes it popped up. It was just like American toast.
Can't imagine what I did wrong, I did just like the book showed in French.

Should be called "Freedom Toast", similar to "Freedom Fries", Ed...

The term should be 'fairness'. Like the House Fairness Caucus. Fairness Fries. So name it Fairness Toast.

Maybe the problem is that you forgot to put syrup on you 'French toast'?

Thanks for the laugh, Ed! :) I have a different brand of toaster and I
think the alternate instructions are in Spanish. I wonder if Spanish
toast is different? ;)

Try putting some canned corn. You will probably get a tortilla.

I'll pour some on the bread and try it tomorrow.

If I were poor, and had to get food from a food pantry, I would
not turn my nose up at canned corn. When I was young and
poor, it was food. Nothing unwholesome, so I don't feel bad
buying it to donate, but not to eat.

I've never had a problem with the taste of canned corn, I don't mind it.
To be fair, it surprises me that you are the same way with canned
green beans; I certainly mind those.

We had a lot of canned corn when I was a kid. I liked it. We still have
it once in a while.

And when you're poor, a few of the wines actually tastes good (Night Train).

A favorite late night snack is canned corn, Libbys creamed corn, eaten
with a spoon from the can. I eat a lot of canned food from the can...
but today I splurged on something fancy, lunch was sliced SPAM on
seeded rye, cold from the fridge with Guldens Spicy Brown. It's a
shame to toss those pretty cans in the recycle bin, I stomp them flat
with the lid inside. Today a big order of cat food from Chewy
arrived, I lugged all the canned food inside so it wouldn't freeze, it
was cold as a witch's bosom outside. The dried food and sacks of
litter could wait for last. Not too cold, only 18º but that's more
than adequate to freeze canned cat food. I'm always thinking that
freezing cold will open those pop top lids. I was lucky, nothing
opened... the UPS trucks must be heated, the cans were still warm.

I hardly ever get the kittens and their mother outside my apartment anything. But when i walk by there, I always see plates of eaten seafood and poultry for them. I just hope that none of that food is seasoned, because salt and pepper is rough on dogs and cats.

God forbid the chewy catfood cans get frozen Popeye!

How many witches bosoms have yoose ogled lately?

Must be lots of 'em running around them Catskills unless the snow
is too deep to plow with yoose big ole tractor (by yoose wife).

How is yoose aunt doing?

Gee, I missed who was dissing canned corn. Oh, Bryan. He completely
missed the joke by Ed who said to put some canned corn in the electric
*bread toaster* to get tortilla.

I use canned whole corn kernels when I make corn and potato chowder.
They work just fine in soups without getting mushy like some canned
vegetables (such as green beans) might. IMHO.

I like creamed corn, but I've surely never eaten it straight from a can.
Typically canned, but I heat it up in a kettle first (which is a good
use for a 1qt kettle).

In his movies John Waters used canned cream as a "stand in" for puke, lol...

I like to add to creamed corn as an ingredient in cornbread...

Canned creamed corn always has an odd taste to me. Not bad, just not
natural.

I've never made my own but I'd like to try next spring/summer when I can
get fresh grown corn. I'll bet that would be a hit.
