Saw on the news yesterday that it was somewhat popular in NYC.
Huh. Sounded interesting though so I will make some today.

Both the green tea and blueberries are supposed to be a healthy thing.

I had some old blueberries in the fridge that hadn't gone bad, they just
dried out like raisins. Then they dried even more.

Yesterday, I re-hydrated them in hot water. Then I poured off the water
(and saved it), smashed up the berries, then added the water back in. I
then brought that water back up to a simmer, turned off the heat and put
a lid on it. Let it cool, then into the fridge overnight.

This morning, I strained it into a 12oz cup with lid. Blueberry broth.

Next, I just made some green tea and put it in the fridge to cool.
I like plain cold green tea.

Final step will be to pour out a half cup of green tea, then slowly add
some of the blueberry broth, tasting each step.

It "sounds" like a good combo. I'll let you know the results.

:-D

Ok, I'm back with results. I doubt many here even drink green tea so I
might just be talking to myself.

Made the tea and the blueberry broth yesterday then refrigerated them
separately to chill overnight. The tea was good as always but the
blueberry "broth" was weak. Needed twice as many blueberries or just
reduced.

Anyway, I just mixed them half and half. Not enough blueberry taste but
still better than plain green tea.

I will definitely make this again. Next time, I'll just make a
concentrated blueberry syrup to add to the tea.

It's a tasty and healthy cold drink. Just 3 ingredients too - water,
green tea, blueberries.

I drink green tea, both hot and cold. I prefer it plain. No sugar,
no fruit. And, yes, I've tried it with sugar and/or fruit.

Glad you liked it with blueberries, though.

We often eat blueberries, next time we have some I will try berries
with Crystal Palace. Actually I'm sure I've already done that. I
like fresh picked Kirby cucumber spears marinated in Crystal Palace
with a lemon wedge, very refreshing. Kirbys are my favorite cucumber
but need to be young and fresh picked, no need to peel... like
enjoying a 15 year old nubile maiden... yoose old biddies would savor
them too.

I like the sounds of it and should be fun! More innovation in cooking
is what keeps the interest up. Even if not all work, it's fun to
experiment!

Perhaps, just a tsp of store bought blueberry jelly might save you a lot of
time.

Dehy blueberries are readily available and can easily be powdered with
a whizzer... I do the same with bell peppers and various types of
'shrooms, onions too. Did yoose know that more than half the US berry
(blueberry/strawberry) crop is dehydrated for the breakfast cereal
industry... otherwise fresh berries have a very short shelf life.

"Jam in tea is old Russian tradition":

https://theculturetrip.com/europe/russia/articles/what-you-should-know-about-russian-tea-etiquette/

"Russian sweeteners

Unlike English tea culture, in Russia, tea is usually taken black and sweet. Despite the rising popularity of green tea in the nation, black tea is still the most common. Often a sugar cube is placed between the teeth and then the tea is sipped through it. Other traditional ways of sweetening tea are with a spoonful of jam, or even marmalade. Again, the tea can be sipped through a spoonful of the preserve, or it can be added straight to the cup..."

My father had tea Russian style, with a piece of raspberry filled hard
candy in it. We rarely had granulated sugar at home but there was
always a jar of rock candy. To sweeten hot beverages Russians held a
piece of rock candy in their cheek.
