Well, this is how I do it!

Topping:
6 oz plain flour (I use wholemeal)
3 oz butter
3 oz soft brown sugar
2 tspn ground correander

Filling:
1.5 lbs cooking apples
2 oz sugar
4 Tbspns water
0.25 tspn nutmeg
0.5 tspn cinnamon

Peel and chop apples. Place in ovenproof dish, and sprinkle over
water, sugar and spices.
Rub butter into flour, and when the mixture resembles breadcrumbs,
add sugar and correander. Sprinkle over apples.
Bake in oven at 180o for about 45 min.

And that's it!
Good luck and enjoy
