We went out for ice cream last night. I heard it was good and we were
not disappointed. You just never seen banana ice cream but they have it
and it was good.

We got to the place about 7PM and I was able to park right out front.
Went in and there were only two other eating ice cream so service was
fast. We must have hit at the perfect time becasue we barely sat down
and there was six people, then 13, then about 18 people by the time we
left.

They have an Amish connection too.
The ice cream is made at a small creamery in Sarasota’s Amish village of
Pinecraft. Every tub of Big Olaf Ice Cream is hand mixed with the finest
ingredients and is then churned in batch freezers by local Amish Craftsmen.

When I used to make ice cream, banana was the only flavor people liked. They
actually loved it.

When I worked at Swenson's Ice Cream in Sunnyvale, all the ice cream
was hand mixed and churned by an old guy named Misha. Maybe his
parents were dyslexic.

There's no point in making banana ice cream when it so much easier to
peel a ripe banana, wrap it in wax paper, and pop it in the freezer.
You get the full natural banana flavor, not watered down with dairy. I
can picture you laciviously slurping an orgasmic bananasicle. LOL

Frozen bananas aside, it was just a few days ago she posted she did not
like ice cream. She'll justify it by saying she was a kid. Then
suddenly morphed into someone who made banana ice cream from scratch.
Uh huh.

I was just reading about this Amish vacation spot, main pic is at an
ice cream place - doesn't say if it's Olaf's though.

That may be the place that does the dairy stuff for them and built the
freezers. This is from Olaf's web site:
Our primary focus is to serve ice cream parlors with a full range of
premium frozen products. The ice cream is made at a small creamery in
Sarasota’s Amish village of Pinecraft. Every tub of Big Olaf Ice Cream
is hand mixed with the finest ingredients and is then churned in batch
freezers by local Amish Craftsmen.

If you Google the locations, the one in Sarasota is cash only. That
makes sense too.

We keep telling her that if a person tells the truth it is easier to
keep the story straight. Instead, she keep practicing her writing by
creating works of fiction and can't keep them straight.

She did! For my birthday when we lived in NY. I posted of it before. I
disliked it because the bowls had to be stored in the freezer and they took
up too much space. The thing only made two servings at a time, and it was
never hard enough so I had to put the ice cream back in the freezer. The
whole thing was a PITA so I got rid of it. Much easier just to buy ice
cream.

Yes, I remember you talking about it. It was around the time I got big

I was once gifted a nice but too large electric
deep fryer. Good for frequent large amounts of
cooking but not for me. I just use a dedicated,
fairly small saucepan for the rare times I deep fry.

I ended up giving it to my daughter but I doubt she
uses it either. oh well.

Same with ice cream, as seldom as I eat ice cream,
I'll just buy some occasionally.

Also with my (probably) favorite soup - Hot&Sour soup.
Too much trouble to collect the infrequent ingredients.
Much nicer to buy a freshly made pint from a good
Chinese restaurant occasionally. :)

I prefer making my own Chinese soups, they are easy and fast... and I
think mine are better.... most of the odd ingredients are readily
available in cans/bottles, everything else at the produce department .
And I make a double quantity. enough for two days.
Most Chinese restaurant soups are awful... they come out of a #10 can,
heated and thickened. How do you think they can serve you in ten
minute, ten minute... no matter what you order it's always ten minute,
ten minute.. why do they always say ten minute twice, do they really
mean twenty minute and expect you to have a abacus?
However I'd much rather a store bought premium icecream. Most people
who attempt homemade waste good ingredients, typically too hard and
too sweet.

about. Then is came back to me after a few seconds. So apologies
if this eluded a few others :-)

Misha = Amish. Take the last letter and put it in front.

But once you have a good stock of ingredients, you can make a lot
of other things, too.

There's only so many things you can do with ketchup, mustard, soy
sauce, and margarine.
