YERBA MATE - A HEALTHFUL ALTERNATIVE TO COFFEE
The national drink of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, yerba mate is
consumed by millions of people as an alternative to coffee. Nutritiuos
and stimulating, mate delivers 24 vitamins and minerals and 15 amino
acids. Considered the "drink of the gods," South Americans revere mate
as a powerful reuvenator. Traditionally believed to ensure health and
vitality, yerba mate is consumed to induce mental clarity, sustain
energy, and to balance the body.
The Gauchos - Argentine Cowboys - dring mate as their "liquid
vegetable," relying on its array of nutrients to power them throughout
the day. The Guayaki people steep mate with other rainforest plants to
prepare herbal tonic mixtures (remedios). Yerba mate is the symbol of
hospitality and is shared from a gourd to invite community. It is
believed to lift the spirit: "Te levanta el espiritu."
The package expressly states it does not contain caffiene.
Also, it's not necessarily tea but it's brewed, served, and consumed exactly
like tea.
Just to clarify.
Cheers.

ok actually there is nothing on the package that says it doesn't have caffiene.
It just says it's an alternative to coffee. That is dissapointing, because I
was really excited I could feel this way without caffeine. However I still
maintain it's nothing like drinking coffee, and I have an easy time going to
sleep after drinking it - unlike coffee. Your mileage may vary, and I'm going
to do some more research.
Aesthetically it's just like tea. You brew it, you drink it.
Cheers - give it a try it's interesting.

Ugh same here - Mate and ginseng kill my nerves, but for some reason
espresso puts me to sleep.
