A Canadian woman living in America was stunned by what she found when
she examined two Heinz ketchup bottles — one manufactured in the U.S.
and one in Canada — and her findings are going viral.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup (America): Tomato concentrate from red ripe
tomatoes, distilled vinegar, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, salt,
spice, onion powder, natural flavoring.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup (Canada): Tomato paste (from fresh, ripe tomatoes),
sugar, vinegar, salt spices.

World Famous Fries (America): potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, corn
oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat
and milk derivatives]*), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain
color), salt. *natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and
hydrolyzed milk as starting ingredients.

McDonald’s Fries (U.K.): potatoes, non-hydrogenated vegetable oils
(rapeseed), dextrose (predominantly added at beginning of the potato season)

I've noticed this too over the years. Products for the American market
contain more gunk than products for other markets. Is that because
American legislation allows more gunk? Or would American consumers not
like the products without the gunk? The Gary factor? "Gimme my gunk or
I won't like it!" "Peanut butter isn't a product, it's a recipe.
Mashed peanuts are one of the ingredients of the recipe." (Other
ingredients being cheap oil, added sugar or HFCS, and a chemical
nobody can pronounce.)

Our food regulations are the best that industry lobbyists could come up
with. They want to to eat nothing but the most pure foods.
