I was ticked off by a letter to the editors of a newspaper that bashed
the producers for allowing a professional sports gambler to compete. I
did not understand the objection. Being good at sports betting would not
necessarily make him proficient in other areas.

He might have got bored with the game. He is a gambler. He said that he
thought his opponent would not get the answer. He may not have expected
her to bet so much, especially on that category.

Go out and get yourself a tinfoil hat to help you figure out the
conspiracy without them reading your thoughts. I don't think Jeopardy
had any reason to want him off. Au contraire... they love it when they
have a champion who is acing all the questions. It may be costing them
money in prices, but they get more than that value in PR. People flock
to the show to see how long the champ can hang in and, hopefully, become
regular viewers. That puts their ratings up and increased the
advertising revenues. The viewers are the product.
