Consider yourelf lucky. I had a problem soon after I got the machine.
Dyson replaced the original. It would clog up and shut down within about
30 minutes. I would rinse it out as per their instructions and then it
would take about 4 days before it dried out enough to use it, even if I
wiped it out with paper towels as per Lucretia's suggestion. The
difference between the old one and the new one is that they new one
dries out and is ready to use within about 24 hours..... but it still
clogs up and cuts out. Our first floor has a carpeted living room/dining
room, and family room and a tiled kitchen, bathroom and laundry room and
a laminate floor bedroom. I cannot get the entire floor vacuumed
without that filter clogging and light coming on a minute before it cuts
out.
It does a great job. It sucks up all sorts of stuff that was left behind
by the central vac. You have to be mechanically minded to run it and
keep it cleaned out and operating. My wife has given up on it. She will
use it only to do the kitchen. FWIW, it is still picking up dog hair
from a dog who ceased to be two years ago.
It appears that my original was a lemon. Maybe the replacement is a
lime. I would not recommend this vacuum to anyone.
BTW.... I doubt I would get free shipping. That tends to be limited to
the US. I could have it delivered to a US address in Niagara Falls. By
the time I drove there, paid for the gas and the bridge toll it would be
cheaper to pay the shipping.
A second filter would be a good idea. It just pisses me off that I
should have too. I can run my central vac for months without having to
empty the basket.
