Yesterday was Passover and today my boss's wife gave me a glass jar of
the homemade Matzo Ball Soup she made yesterday. It's enough for a nice
large bowl of soup. I've never tasted Matzo Ball Soup but I know it's a
rich-tasting chicken soup so I doubt I'll be disappointed. I'm just
about to heat it up for a rather late dinner.

What, if anything, did you folks cook or eat tonight?

Frozen pizza. I added provolone to the mozzarella already there. Nothing special.

Daughter-in-law brought over some chili. I've not cooked since Saturday
and won't again until Monday or Tuesday.

Sunday was leftover chicken, Monday, daughter and I went to the Amish
Country Store and bought some prepared foods. Golabki on Monday and
Wednesday, kielbasa Tuesday and Friday, that will repeat Friday and
Saturday, chili again Sunday. Granddaughter making ribs and will have
some for me. Wow, lazy week for cooking.

Leftover spicy meat-a-ball and salami pizza. Reheated a minute
too long but was perfect.

Sorry your Walmart deli no longer sells them, but the ones I frequent here,
do.

Last night was a salad with ranch dressing. I put a handful of
dill sprigs right in the salad, mixed in with the lettuce.

Lunch was Thursday Take-out. In this case, Szechuan chicken.

Getting old is not so bad, has many benefits. No commute to work, no
one to answer to, do as you please every day.

i've seen someone make it from the start. roasted chicken
soup with unleavened cracker crumb dumplings. good and filling
enough. no complaints. the chicken was free range and tasted
like chicken should. using an older bird for roasting and put
back into the soup definitely made it an actual chicken soup
and not something someone waved the chicken over to give it
the impression of chicken flavor.

> What, if anything, did you folks cook or eat tonight?

the appetizer was some ice-cream with peanuts on it, a jr.
whopper (not much there any more), a few apple slices with
peanut butter.

Add in, no wife to answer to and truly do as you please every day. ;)

My retired problem still is too much spare time, dammit.
I used to do everything I wanted to - even when still working full time.

Now I'm left with 40-60 hours/week of ???
My work time was very physical work too so I get much less exercise now.
It's not a good habit to get into.

Perhaps I should forget about sharks and start surfing again. Yeah, that
might work well.

I'm pretty sure Ed would prefer his wife were alive and well.

endless amounts of trash to pick up. when i was in TN i
spent hours walking the edge of the reservoir picking up
stuff the piggies had left behind. after swimming or hiking
i had extra energy so that was what i did. i made a notable
difference for a while.

correct. gardening has been a hobby for me for many
years now (once i did the math about how much food i could
grow vs. what i could make at crummy part-time jobs and
decided i liked it much better than the job i was doing
(and that boss in particular who turned a decent job into
a crappy one)).

i can work as hard as i want here and keep plenty busy
during the better weather and then during the winter i
can return to poking around some computer projects and
whatever else i can find interesting to read or study.
science continues to figure some things out that are
still facinating. and i also try to avoid fads (the
current AI one as a case in point).

i love reef biology but get really seasick so that probably
saved me from dying by dumb accident because i'm not really
suited towards doing dangerous things. i'm good now with a
shovel and a few other simple tools and working with plants
and having a lot of fun doing that. even developing new
bean varieties.

My father in law got into cowboy leather work and got pretty good at it.
He was raised on a ranch in Arizona.
My wife got into quilts and tote bags. She's pretty good at it. These
were made for my granddaughter's upcoming wedding, to be passed out to
her bridesmaids or whomever.

The one thing I especially noticed during my recent trip to Western
Australia was the absence of litter. But then, when I lived there 50
years ago, there was an advertising campaign "Don't Rubbish Australia">

Impressive. She could make some money selling them online. But I guess
then it would become work.

We had an attack recently. The guy seems to be taking it in stride. He said that it's the shark's territory, not the surfers.

I suspect that Gary meant that he has no wife himself, and is retired,
so he has lots of free time. That's how I read it, anyway. I don't
think that Gary was jabbing at Ed's late wife. I'd sure hope not, anyway.

So sorry to hear that

I know someone Who is having a spinal thing done this week

fortunately sounds manageable at least how she tells it

She called a doctor friend not her treating doctor who told her she should expect to get instructions to stay home for something in the neighborhood of 4 days afterwards.

she told the doctor friend not to let on to her mother and to make up a story that she will be going on a business trip that weekend.

she is pretending she is going to where her new corporate headquarters are of the company hers just merged with a few months ago.
If there's a massive snowstorm or hurricane that weekend, she's busted.

Maybe I will bring some matzo ball soup while she is recovering
