In the UK when you go into a Chinese Restuant and you order Crispy Seaweed,
can anybody please tell me what the brown powder is that they sprinkle on
the top and call "Grated Scallops"?

It always used to be grated dried scallops. Dried scallops
can be bought in any shop in Gerrard or Lisle streets in
London (or any other Chinese shop in the UK). They are not
cheap though.

Here is a recipe, minus the grated scallops!

You could try using the fried fish flakes sold in any
Chinese grocer.
