A local farm near me had their first batch of strawberries out when I
stopped by a couple of weeks ago. I was too cheap for a $7 container,
but I bet they are really good, so I might grab some next time (I pass
it going to work).
In typical procrastination fashion, I picked up a small flat of tomato
and bell pepper plants from the same place, that recent got into the
tilled soil. A little late, but the tomatoes are starting to flower
already. Romas and some kind of hybrid "super tomato" that the guy
talked me into. Also some eggplant and one other that I forgot what it
was (it will be a mystery). I have lettuce in a pot also. I'm afraid
of it being eaten if it goes into the ground.
I'm not sure how many folks here do flowers, but we used to have a local
Dahlia show that ran for 90 years. I went to the last show. There were
some gorgeous flowers, some over 12" in diameter. Unfortunately, the
whole club was aging, and they decided to shut down and disband. I did
buy several Dahlia tubers that I have started in pots. A few of which
are to be the giant size flowers.
