Disclaimer: The following is a personal observation and opinion <vbg>!

Years ago, the 'extra crispy' chicken from KFC was (still?) very good.
Then again, KFC was practically the only eatery in the USA for fast-food
fried chicken 'back then'; now there are other "dedicated" vendors that
specialize in fried chicken (Chick-Fil-A, Popeyes, Chesters, and others
unknown to me). Do 'fish' places like Long John Silvers and Captain D's
count since they serve fried chicken, too?

Er, KFC is still OK in a pinch I suppose, but I've since discovered a
regional grocery-store company makes and sells (Chester's) fried chicken
which is ever so much crispier and tastier than anything KFC offers,
IMNSHO! Since this discovery, I've made a point to get the 'fried'
chicken from the grocery store ;>

So, it's been years since I've had any KFC. My late and beloved
paternal grandmother's tradition was to get KFC for Christmas Eve
'dinner'. She'd spend the prior days prepping all the foods & goodies
for the Christmas (Day) Feast, so the last thing she wanted to do was
cook dinner <g> on Christmas Eve (DUH!). Christmas Feast was always
shared Christmas Day around 2pm or so. Wonderful memories . . . . ;>

Sky, who prefers the grocery store's fried chicken !!!! =;D

P.S. And, oh how I do like a Chick-Fil-A sandwich, too, sans pickle!

Agreed. Without doubt, "tastes" of all sorts are always subjective and
more than prone to personal opinions and preferences ;> Hence my
disclaimer.

BUT, a big butt --> IM(stern)O, *WW cannot be truly considered a
"grocery" store, nor is it a place where 'good' fried chicken can be
obtained. Only when there's no other choice would I ever shop at any WW
for "fresh" (cough-cough!!) foods! BTDT and learned the hard way that
shopping at WW does _not_ always save pennies!

Sky, who avoids WWs like the black plague!

*WW = WallyWorld = Walmart

My grocery store, Shaw's, has really good fried chicken, but the flavor still doesn't compare to the flavor of "original recipe" KFC. I miss being able to get KFC near my house because our local one is filthy.

I remember liking Kentucky Fried Chicken back in the late 1950s when it
was a very rare treat. I also remember having it in the early 70s and
how bad it was. I don't know if it was a change in the product or a
change in my taste, but I have not liked it since.

I've eaten KFC twice, both occasions almost 40 years ago. I suffered
such severe indigestion afterwards that I have never been tempted back.

All chicken joints are filthy. When in high school I worked part of
one summer for Chicken Delight. The food was prepared in a big loft
in Brooklyn's Fort Greene Meat Market, a grotesquely disgusting place,
the stench could make you pass out. Chicken is not something I eat
often, perhaps 3-4 times a year and never breaded, I don't like any
breaded foods... the closest I get is a very light dusting of seasoned
flour.

They're franchised so a lot depends on the owner, but it also depends
on what mega-corporation owns them now. I remember when Colonel
Sanders was called back to rescue the company, because they'd messed
the food up so badly. There's a KFC near my house, so I stop in for
one of their little chicken sandwiches from time to time (if I'm
hungry when I'm walking by) and what I've eaten in the last few years
has been good.

Yes it depends on the franchisee or if the store is company owned. The one near me is still very good. I've always loved KFC from way back in the day. Original recipe, never been crazy about any of the others.

The best "promotional" special they ever had, IMHO, was the boneless original chicken.

Ours is gone down so badly that I have no idea how they stay in business. The tables are rarely washed, the dining room walls have months worth of greasy little kids' fingerprints all over them, even though they're rarely busy, they run out of chicken often, people wait 20 minutes or more for their food and when they complain the manager runs out and tells them to Fuck off. Must be a fun place to work.

Sandy Hook had been closed a few yrs before as a school because of an asbestos problem.

My high school and grade school were so damaged by the June flood they will be torn down. If Hillary had won there could have been a staged shooting at either 1.

Are you suggesting that Sandy Hook was staged and didn't really happen?

I'm pretty sure there were plenty of other ones like Church's, Grandy's and Roy Rogers.

Back in the 2 months (1971) that I worked at KFC, all they had was
original.
Still the best imo.
