According to the label on my jar of minced garlic, 1/2 tsp = 1 clove.

Why are you using pre-crushed garlic? Its so much fun to peel and crush
yourself!! Then you can smell your fingers.

As for your question: imagine the volume occupied by 2 cloves of gralic.
That's how much 2 cloves is in tablespoons.

Regarding how much pre-crushed garlic is equal to two
cloves, my response is how ever much you want it to be.
This may sound like a sarcastic answer, but my wife and I
cook with pre-crushed garlic all the time. In fact, we buy
it buy the quart jar. It really doesn't matter if you are
putting in what the recipe says, as long as you like the
result. Given that the recipe amount is usually a good
starting point, I would say that two cloves is about a good
teaspoon. Check the jar the garlic comes in, many have
approximate amounts (but remember that no two cloves are
the same size!!)

I imagine the size of one garlic clove and for me, two cloves fit 1
teaspoon.anyway it seems to work with my precrushed and if Its a little
over...its okay with me.

It depends on the size of the cloves! And who knows what size the author
of a particular recipe was using, not to mention that the bottled garlic
probably isn't as flavorful as the real thing. I would estimate 1 to 2
teaspoons of the bottled crushed stuff for each clove called for by the
recipe. Some people are more fond of garlic more than others; you may want
to add more or less to taste.

Hm ... mine says 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder = 1 clove ...

Two cloves of garlic is... not enough garlic! (Sorry, I love the stuff.)
Seriously, take your best guess, and if it tastes good, you guessed right.
If you're not sure you like "too much" garlic, err on the side of not
enough, and add more to your recipe if needed.

Remember... recipes are a GUIDE, not sacred law. If it tastes good,
it works. Happy cooking!

In our house we tend to use just enough garlic to keep the vampires at
bay. Is that enough?

If all you want to do is keep vampires away, have you considered crucifixes?
I realize that this will not do for Debra Fran Baker, but perhaps she likes
garlic and/or doesn't worry about vampires.

At an herb workshop I attended recently (under a tent just as a storm was
blowing up - real interesting), the director was passing around samples of
various herbs and flavorings so that we could see and smell what they
should look like. As she started some powdered galic, she made an offhand
comment about how any vampires in the group should leave now.

About six or seven separate voices around the tent, in unison but in a
very offhand tone, said "Doesn't work."

That was a great line. As I was News Group surfing, I saw the title,
"How much is 2 cloves of garlic?". My immediate response was "NOT
ENOUGH". This guy uses the pre-crushed garlic, probably in oil. That
stuff is so weak that I have to quadruple the amount.
