I'm watching the much ballyhooed film, Chef, and there's a bit where
the dad, kid, and bddy are headed for Nawlins and while they're
driving, the buddy shakes some cornstarch down his pants to deal with
what I assume is potential crotch rot. The kid tells the dad, "Martin
put cornstarch on his balls". The two yrs I lived in TN, I
also suffered the much dreaded "rotten crotch" from high humidity.
Instead of cornstarch, I merely elected to never live East of Denver.

back when I used to lift weights I was advised to apply baby powder
to my massively studly inner thighs in order to prevent chafing

it works

Chafing is different from a fungal infection. For relief from burning
and to help heal chafing liberally apply witch hazel several times
daily. Chafing is an abrasion, a fungal infection is from not bathing
and/or not wearing freshly laundered clothing.

I just put that movie into the mailbox back to Netflix.

Cornstarch as a male remedy, that was a new one on me.

Not just males. Some baby powders are made from cornstarch
rather than talc; it's thought to be better for the lungs.

I've heard of cornstarch as a dry shampoo, but I read where
that's food for bacteria, to use arrowroot powder instead.

Some say that cornstarch will make things worse. That's a yeast infection
and starch feeds yeast.

Not necessarily. They can come about from taking antibiotics or sometimes
from a person's build. If they have enough fat or even excess skin to where
another part of the body is being covered up, this can happen. It can also
happen to swimmers and other active people who must remain in sweaty or wet
clothing.

If a person, male or female, has a problem with bad microorganisms in the
crotch area that is not solved by frequent washing, the answer is to use
probiotics, not cornstarch, which feeds microorganisms non-selectively.
Probiotics like Culturelle, and even better, Align, can out compete the
bad bacteria and yeasts. Urogenital areas of the body are not supposed to
be free of bacteria. Bifudobacteria and Lactobaccili keep those parts of
the body healthy and kissable. These bacteria can be applied locally as
needed.

The best defense against offensive crotch organisms is a good offense.
Better living through technology.

My mother taught me to apply corn starch to the necks of my babies to
prevent prickly heat rash. It does work.

I always thought that an odd nomenclature for a medical condition... I
can understand adult females having prickly heat, but aren't female
babies kind of young? hehe

Crotch rot is a fungal infection. I have never met anyone who had it.

But there are other undesirable organisms that can cause the crotch to
have unpleasant aspects. See my post above. Believe me, if anyone
here knows about crotches...

And we can picture you on a ship with 500 men with 500 penises. You
went from child's play with your brother to the big leagues, and you
couldn't handle it. So now you hate the homosexual part of yourself
and everyone else. Classic homophobia.
