I believe it was Cindy that posted this for olive oil. Looked good so I
ordered one and it came today. Much nicer that what I used before. I
often eat sliced tomato with herbs and oil and this gives nice control
to drizzle.

If you need a glug or two to fry something, stick with a bottle but to
drizzle bread or the like this is nice.

I've been using a bar keeps pourer on a wine bottle for more than 50
years, nothing better.

I just pour mine out of the bottle it came in and it works perfectly
every time.

Funny thing is, that is what I'm replacing. For most things it is fine
but there are times I want more control.

Do you drizzle olive oil onto bread?

I used to do that by the simple expedient of putting my thumb over
the opening on the bottle, but I prefer the cruet. Even bar pourers
are too coarse for that.

Control?
The one I have pours as much as I want, stops when I turn the bottle
upright or it empties... and it's dripless... anything on the spout
runs back into the bottle. And there's a removeable cap that seals
with a rubber O-ring.

How good is it at pouring a very thin stream onto a piece of bread
and not indundating the bread with oil?

Everyone has their own method. I'm not shaky and can drizzle from a
fairly large bottle which I don't do often. If we want olive oil and
bread I pour some in a small saucer like dish and sometimes add a splash
of balsamic or black pepper and dip bread into the pool.

Favorite is a hunk of goat cheese topped with fresh cracked black pepper
or ground red chili and a couple good glugs of olive oil. French bread
or fresh tortillas for dipping.

Yes, you get to see the entire living room and my cat (who is definitely
not dead).

Yes, I need to refill that bottle. No worries, there's more olive oil
in the cupboard. :)

You're right; everybody's different. I find I get much better
control over how much oil I ingest by drizzling rather than
dipping, and I don't like anything else in the oil.

Seems like I saw something similar at an Olive Garden restaurant years
ago. They brought out the bread and a shallow saucer of oil with
cracked black pepper for dipping. Not something I'd do at home and I
definitely wouldn't want vinegar (balsamic or otherwise) on bread.

I posted a pic of my olive oil dispenser in another reply. Definitely
for drizzling and pretty, too. :)

Works perfectly, same as pouring from a measuring cup, for a small
trickle don't tip the bottle more than is needed... with a steady hand
I can pour individual drops.

Pah! That's no proof of your cat. Could be a stunt cat or a
rent-a-cat for the picture.

Be sure to refill it with Pompeian Robust evoo. It's the best.
It's Squertz approved.

I didn't see the cat at first, but then I spotted it right next to
your exercise machine.

Lol! We need a pic of Jill "ripping" on that machine. I'm sure
the
cat lost interest right away after checking it out for a moment.
meh heh

What I have is Pompeian Smooth, for sauteing and stir-frying. First
pressed, extra virgin. It was on sale. I do price comparisons when it
comes to buying olive oil. I don't use a lot of it. Sometimes the
store-brand wins, sometimes another brand. Pompeian won out the last
time. :)

We buy the neutral flavored EVOO at Walmart, it's the only cooking oil
we buy, we find the estate oils too strongly flavored and not in a
good way, and too expensive. Often we blend the Walmart EVOO with
butter for cooking, that's flavored enough... for salads there are all
sorts of herbs and spices to go with the neutral flavored EVOO... we
don't care for vinegar in our homemade salad dressing, we much prefer
fresh squeezed lemon juice, then the rinds are used in mixed
cocktails. I buy 2lb bags of lemons at Tops for $3-$4, eight very
nice lemons, juicey and very few seeds.... one bag lasts about a
month.

you actually look at the photo? There is NO exercise machine.

I'm happy for you, Sheldon. I don't shop at Walmart. Their supermarket
sucks in terms of pretty much everything.

I agree about adding a little butter to the oil for cooking certain
dishes. Absolutely when pan-searing something like sea scallops. I
don't use a lot of olive oil and don't much worry about brand. I'm not
an olive oil snob.

I do not buy bags of lemons. They'd go bad before I could use them.

Definitely not yours. That's Buffy's retreat and it's not a tower, it's
a barrel and a cradel. She occasionally jumps through the hoop (barrel)
and sometimes takes a nap in it. She likes to nap on the cradle, too.
When the sun is shining there. Her most favourite spot is the crackle
sack. That's where she was in that photo. It's fleece-lined and she
loves that. The sun was shining in, too, and like most cats, she
follows the sun. Later in the afternoon she'll be stretched out in the
dining room. Where the sun is.

Publix has Pompeian on BOGO periodically so I get it then. Decent stuff
for the price.

Yep, it's a 32 oz. bottle and it will last a very long time. I'm not an
olive oil snob. I definitely price shop.

I've got a pot of spicy five bean soup cooking in the crock pot at the
moment. I'll be making a grilled/griddled cheese sandwich to go with
it. I use a drizzle of olive oil and a little butter. Griddled cheese
on sourdough and a cup of my spicy bean soup will be dinner. :)
