Does anyone know of a Blackland Stables in Bonita, Ca? I need their phone
number. Also, what sort of a place is it? I'm looking for both arena and
trail riding. E-mail if possible. Thanks. Alison

Dec 12 E-Mail didn't work, so I am posting this. Tracy
Alison,
Blackland Farms, Bonita Ca, Boy that name brought back wonderful memories.
I learned to ride at Blackland when I was in my 20's, that was about 14 yrs
ago. At that time it was one of the few Hunter/Jumper barns in San Diego.
It was a nice facility with a nice selection of school horses. Katie
McGuire was my instructor, she was a kick in the pants! I didn't truly
appreciate the training I received there until I moved to northern Ca.
and rode for an instructor, to determine my ability, and he told me I
was a very elegant rider. As I have progressed and worked with more
instructors, I wish I knew where Katie was, I would send her roses. She layed
a firm foundation for me to build on. Unfortunately, I heard Blackland
Farm was sold & no longer owned by the Black family, so I can not comment
on it's operation today. It did have nice outdoor arenas and access to
trails. With all the building that has taken place there in the past few
years, I can't imagine there is much left in the way of trails.
I have a friend in Chula Vista, I'll see if I can get the new name and
number for you. Tracy

Sorry again to post, but I didn't see Allsion's email address in this post and
don't have the original.

Sally Black, former owner of Blackland farms in Bonita Ca, is now a trainer at
the Rancho Bernardo Riding School (RBRS) / Chuck Esau Training Stable (619)
451-0114. It's located off Pomerado road in Rancho Bernardo. One of the other
trainers is named Katie, but I'm not sure of the last name. McGuire does ring a
bell.

At any rate, I learned to ride as an adult at this school and have been very
pleased. I checked out a few others in the area and found the instructors at
RBRS to be excellent and the school to offer a lot of flexibility depending on
the type of riding you want to do, from weekend rider to serious competition. I
don't have a lot of experience, but recommend checking it out. Tell them I sent
you!

Feel free to call me if you want more information.
