Hi. I couldn't help but notice the post from Sandy saying she was going
to a horse fair in Wisconsin in April. That must be the Midwest Horse
Fair that my riding instructor spends all year orgainizing. Quite
amazing how she can run a private boarding stable, teach about 40 lessons
a week, give one-day clinics, compete her 4th level and grand-prix level
dresaage horses AND organize the Midwest Horse Fair, which is apparently
the biggest horse fair in the country, and the only one with purely
demonstrations and no competition.

Furthermore, she now lives in Ohio, but still runs the horse fair in Wisconsin.

Some day I'd like to be able to make it to the horse fair. I'd love to hear
more about it from people who have gone.

By the way, my riding instructor's name is Leslie McDonald. her younger horse
is named Borne and her grand prix horse is named Tusquin, both are Dutch
warmbloods. I take lessons on her former, 1st and 2nd level horse, TJ Callahan.

Sounds like my DREAM LIFE!! I would give up this stuffy office and
paper-pile just ONE of your instructor's activities!

The Midwest Horse Fair will be April 11-12 in Madison, Wisconsin
at the Dane County Expo Center. The Expo Center is located just
off state hwy 12 & 18 (the "Beltline").

I don't have the details with me but I believe it runs from
9am - 6pm Sat (there might be something scheduled for Sat. eve.
but I don't remember what) and from 9am - 5pm Sun. In addition to
the exhibit area in the Coliseum and Forum buildings there are
demonstrations all day long in the Coliseum arena by various
horse groups. Also, there are lectures by vets from the UW Vet
School and area trainers on both days. This year there will also be
longer demos in the Arena Building (diff. from the arena area of
the Coliseum). My group will be responsible for a 1-1/2 hr. demo
on gymnastic jumping with horse experience ranging from novice to
experienced. I don't remember what the other demos will be about.

If you'd like more information about lecture topics, etc. e-mail
me - I'll try and remember to bring all that in with me on Monday.

The main problem (if you can call such a smorgasbord a problem :-) )
is that there is so MUCH to see, do and hear that it is impossible
to do it all! Such fun, though!!
