Hi Hunter, or anyone else who's into trucks.

I've asked you this before, but can't find that link. Do you remember
the link to towing capacities for trucks?
I'm looking for the towing capacity of a Ford F350 V8 (gas) truck, no
4WD, longbed, crewcab, 460 engine.
One has come available that a friend of mine is interested in. I
remember that RV site listed trucks going back several years, but not
sure if it would go back that far.

Thanks!
Carol

What is the rear differential?

One thing that often works is to google for the specific model,
including "cgvw", e.g.:

1997 ford f350 cgvw

I found a link to Cars Direct that has:

http://www.carsdirect.com/research/specs?cat=6&make=FO&modelid=91&acode=USA70FOT131A0&year=1997

while it doesn't directly list the CGVW, it does list the maximum
trailer weight as between 7,101 to 10,000 lbs. The engine size, rear
end, 2wd/4wd will affect the towing capacity.

http://www.trailerlife.com/output.cfm?id=42175

Lists their past 10 years towing guides, and says you can email them to
request their towing guide for years prior to 1999.

If you have the VIN number, you can get a spec sheet for this exact
truck (as configured when it rolled off the assembly line) from Ford:

Thanks so much. I got the trailerlife link from Hunter earlier today.
Took a quick look, but didn't know enough about the truck to know
exactly which one it was. Maybe he will know or the mechanic can use
it when he looks into it. Thanks so much.

Anyone here have personal experience with a 1997 gas Ford 350 V8. I've
got a 2002 gas F350, but it's a V10. This one is a V8. So far, I've
been much happier with this one than the previous F350 diesel, but it
was a 1992, so quite a bit different than more recent models.

Is her horse trailer a gooseneck or bumper pull. A bumper pull will be
no more than 10,000#
