Has anyone had experience with a Crosby Equilibrium saddle?
It's a sort of cross between an all purpose and a close
contact. Tad Coffin designed it.
Anyone know of a used one for sale? (17 in., medium width tree)
They're newish on the market so I don't expect there are many
second hand ones around which is why I'm posting the request.

Has anyone used a Thornhill PRO-Jumper or PRO-Grand Prix?

I'd really appreciate feedback on any of the above. Thanks!

Jennifer, I have used a Crosby for the past four years (they are not
that new on the market) and have been very pleased with it. I remember
reading an evaluation of the saddle in one of the magazines a couple of
years ago which gave it rave reviews. Jumpers, Eventers and even
dressage riders loved it (although it is the wrong colour and not
acceptable for any but low level dressage). In Dec I was at a clinic
with Ian Millar and he mentioned the Crosby as an excellent saddle.

As with any saddle it depends on the person and the horse but I have
found the Crosby to fit a wide range of people (we have four or five of
them at my barn) and a wide range of horses. As a general purpose
saddle, IMO the Crosby does it all well - I would certainly recommend
you true one to see how it feels.

I haven't ridden in one but I've sat on them in stores alot. (Not in the
market for that type of saddle, if I was I'd get one)

They've actually been around for quite a while. I know it's the other side
of the world but what the hay... Dover (Wellesley MA) always has a variety
of used saddles for sale. Might be worth a call.

The equilibrium is indeed not that new. I had one also about three or four
years ago and didn't like it. I am a small woman and found the flaps too big
and the seat neither shallow nor deep, so it didn't satisfy either need. I
sold mine. I have periodically seen others for sale as well. As with all
saddles--because it is true that PH gave it a great review--everyone has
their individual needs and tastes. Whether you can find one on your time
schedule is the question, but they do appear. Watch the Chronicle in particu-
lar.
