I had a Crosby Prix des Nations Sovereign. After about 2 years normal
use, I found that the seat wore thru right by the twist. Fortunately,
Crosby was good about it and took the saddle back to England and replaced
the entire seat. I loved that saddle.Reb...@dartmouth.edu

I've had my Crosby Torino for about 20 years. I learned to jump with
it, I showed QHs in Hunt Seat with it for several years, I've used it
while breaking young horses and now I use it occassionally for
pleasure riding. The saddle is still in nice enough shape to show in
and I've never had to replace anything on the saddle (other than going
thru several girths). The leather is a little darker now and my
tastes have changed in regards to the style of the saddle. But, I
definitely feel I got my money's worth.

The older Crosbys were wonderful, but I wouldn't take a new one for free.
I was in Miller's Manhattan store in February and was shocked at the lousy
leather and quality of the Crosby saddles. Of course, the prices are
higher than ever! Elisa

I am sorry to hear so many people say that Crosby's newer stuff is coming
down in quality! I, too, had an older Crosby Featherweight event model
that was the most comfortable thing I had ever ridden in. It also lasted
many years, and the leather still looked and felt beautiful. And I have a
Crosby bridle that is 5 years old and still looks great. I wonder what
Miller's is thinking?

I agree with Elisa. We had two Crosby's bought around 1979-1980 and they wore
and wore and wore--great mid-range priced saddles. So I got another one about
7 years ago and it wore pretty well (until it was stolen two years ago!).
However, the first few times I got caught in the rain, which was always in good
show clothes since I don't ride in the rain much otherwise, my riding pants
were saturated with leather dye. It did wash out but I have never had another
saddle do that! As it got older it bled less, but never stopped. I find it
easy to believe they are of even poorer quality now. I would not buy another
Crosby!

I bought a Crosby 3.5 years (Hampton classic) and after more than a year
of struggling with a bad back (caused by rotating pelvis), I've learned
that my saddle is the culprit. Seems they don't use a good stuffing
in the saddle and mine wore down unevenly. Althogh two saddle makers have
different opinions about whether or not it is permanently twisted, it
is functionally twisted in its current condition. I just bought a Passoa
and I hope I have better luck. Seems like you get what you pay for.
