The Coronet Minoret lathe was made as a combination machine, saw table,
bandsaw, planer and thicknesser, morticer, sanding disc, belt sander, all
being optional extras. The Majoret was its big brother. As combination
machines they were fitted with a 2850 r.p.m. motor.
Turning was another optional extra, but the motor was too fast for the
turner.
Various alternatives were offered, but the best one was a 1425 motor,
which meant that the turner was no longer courting a 1000 r.p.m. minimum
speed disaster.
You can get more information from Derek Pyatt, who specialises in
obsolete Coronet and Arundel spares. He lives in the Wolverhampton area of
Staffordshire. Contact him on (01902) 791656.
Look at the tailstock (right hand) end of the single round bed bar to
see if you can find a hand stamped manufacturing date. It may be of use to
Derek.
Good Luck, and please give Derek my regards.
