Hello,

I have blanks blanks comming from my neighbourgh tree (softwood), they were
really attached to the tree and asked me to make a bown for each of their
kids (7 in total!).

anyhow, the problem is that my $200 harbort Freight late is not capable of
truing such heavy blanks:( (10" diametter, 6/7" depth)

Is there someone around Boise with a large enough lathe who would be willing
me to host me for a couple of hours so that I can rough turn the blanks?

Thanks, Cyrille at hp dot com

A real man would be telling his wife he needs a new lathe right now. :)

The size is not the problem once balance is achieved. I have turned that
size many times on my Canadian Tire monotube without problems. I am also
one of the few people I know who turn spruce. It is a very pretty wood
but has its own set of challenges. Maple is easier and just as nice.
