There I was spinnin a pen blank and oops! I turned through the wood
and exposed the brass. Not wanting to trash the blank, I grabbed some
Maple wood dust, dribbled a bit of super glue into the wound, and
applied the dust. I then sanded it smooth. I was using cocobole (or
was it bocate?) and the fix just blended right in to the wood.

The pen does not look all bad but I do have a question. Would I be
wrong to assume that the repaired area is
actually stronger than the unwounded area?

Probably, assuming dry wood and no voids/bubbles when you filled it..

CA does tend to get brittle over time, though.. and I'd guess that if it has a
finish, that will wear differently than bare wood?

Some folks use CA 'for' the finish, so it's probably not a big deal...
I've got bowls that have CA/saw dust filling the cracks and they've been fine
for a few years, that I know of.. lol
