Has anyone tried the "V" vessel for fermentation? It seems like a great idea
and would cut down on racking and having to have an empty carboy to rack
into. I'm wondering about price (I think over $200) and the quality
especially in the valves (leaks).

I have 2 v-vessels and they work great. Don't pay 200 bucks though.
www.undergroundbrewing.com has them for $129.00

I also have a V-vessel and it worked great, no leaks yet. I'm relatively
new to making wine but I think the idea is great, and racking the finished
wine was easy after a few bottles.

It's difficult to see if you have any sediment (lees) needing to be racked,
but if you rack your wine enough you'll be fine.
I finished bottling six gallons of White Zinfandel about six weeks ago,
which was made from a kit, and it turned-out great. I racked the wine
twice, although looking back, I should have racked the wine a few additional
times.
