I realise that this isn't quite the right newsgroup for this query,
but its the closest that I could get! (If there's a better group to
post to, then please email me, and apologies...)
I would like to buy my wife a decent introductory book on the subject,
since she has just discovered it, and Christmas is heading our way
very soon.
I have made her a frame, and she has got the basic dyes, but other
than filling in-between the gutta (sp?) she won't be able to do any
fancy stuff without some guidance.
Also, are there any mail-order places that specialise in this sort of
stuff? Obviously, European addresses would be more convenient, but any
contacts would be useful.
Please could you email me, since I can't always get onto the net.
Thanks very much, in advance.

The best source for supplies that I have found is Rupert, Gibbon, and Spider.
They have a mail order catalog with supplies, silk fabric, prefinished scarves,
and books on silk painting. I have ordered from them and was pleased with
their service and prices. I purchased 35" square scarves for $3.00 each, at
that price I can't be bothered to buy fabric and hem 'em myself. Naturally
their catalog and phone number is at home, but I'll post the info next week.
Thai silks also carries prefinished scarves for silk painting but their prices
are a couple of dollars higher than RG&S.
