In between reading & answering posts today, I have managed to make
lampshades today:>)
One is complete & back on the lamp. The other one is drying & waiting
for it's trim:>)
I made them out of purchased "homemade " paper.
Really pretty. Can't wait for tonight to see what they look like in
the dark:>)
Well, I guess it won't be dark if the lamp is on, but you know what I
mean (LOL)
Trish

I was wondering the same thing, Nora. Good thing she is naturally slim, as
she would never have the will-power to diet.
(Sssshhhh, don't tell her I said that!)
Katherine
Just the arc, that you make according to how wide your circles are &
how long you want the shade to be. I just made them out of "homemede"
paper that I bought in the city market.
I don;t have a scanner that's working at the moment. Bought a new
computer in the Spring & the old scanner isn't compatable.:>(
But they're pretty:>) Does that help you any??
Trish
Trish
I must ask her about that(LOL)

You don't get off that easy. How did you attach it to the frame? Glue?
Stitching? Did you use one solid piece of paper or did you tear shapes and
glue them overlapped for texture and translucency variation? Did you do a
pinhole pattern? Glue on paper cut-outs? Do drawings or painting?
nanner nanner nanner, Trish got yelled at, lol!
Good for you, Helen, make her give us the scoop!
vbg,
Yes, I recovered 2 shades. One was just 2 rings, & I had the arc from
the old shade. The other one was a frame That I just had to cut the
paper to fit. I used "homemade" paper that I bought at the Market.
It's really pretty .The one for the diningroom is white with pieces of
grass going through it. The one by my chair in the livingroom is white
with bits of grass & pressed flowers in it.
They look great turned on at night. I've actually had 2 really good
nights of cross stitching in there. The light is so nice & bright:>)
I didn't pierce or paint them, as tey're so decorative on their own.
Those ones with the painting on the inside are beautiful. We had a
customer who used to do those.
Thanks for asking:>)
Trish
Yes I glued the paper to the wire rings, in one piece. Actually, I did
have to piece the larger one, because the paper was to short.
Nothing fancy:>)

Just fair warning that she WILL be pestered for details. ;)

If you insist. Sounds nice, though. Do you have to use a special glue?

Ooh, even better! The flowers must look wonderful at night. I really am
tempted to try this some time, but I'm crazy enough to try to make the
paper, too.

Yep, with a great big virtual <<HUG>>!
You have given me a vital clue. I had no idea there was even such a thing
as actual lampshade glue!

I actually own two paper molds, complete with deckles. They're really
small, though. Standard writing paper size and half-sheet size. I had a lot
of fun with them, but mostly ended up using the paper in papier mache'.
But I like "oinch"! LOL
Katherine
The one I use (we sell it at the shop) is put out by Mainlt Shades
I'm not sure who else makes it:>)
Trish
"Give them an oinch and they'd take a pinch!"
<giggle>
See, doesn't it have a ring to it? I bet if I used that word in class in
September, I'd have the kids saying it. <g>
Katherine
If I know kids, they'll turn that round and say, "Give them a pinch and
they'll yell 'Oinch!'"
Trish
LOL You are probably right, Helen.
