Hello everyone - I hope you all have a great day and enjoy that first coffee
( I can smell all those cups of coffee from here). I am afraid I am late
today - it is after 5 pm Sunday evening and I have just had my afternoon
coffee, The day was so beautiful that time was wasted ( ???waste) sitting
on the balcony in the sun after we got home from church - then it was lunch
time and again had lunch on the balcony until it got a little too hot ( not
spring until the 1st Sept either) and so the day went by ! God Bless
everyone Gwen

Good Morning everyone. I have been watching the Olympics and am now headed off
for bed - no coffee until I get up again. DH has been gone all week so I have
been keeping a relaxed schedule - though I have gotten out in the yard to do
some work. It was getting fairly hot so I was glad when it started to rain a
bit so that I had a good excuse to come in.
I have been knitting while I watch the Olympics but tonight I had to put a
crocheted edging on something
(several attempts were necessary as I was distracted and I am not that good at
crochet yet).

Good morning Gwen and everyone

It's just past seven a.m. here and my two youngest children crawled into the
bed with me an hour ago, waking me up, and then they promptly fell deep
asleep again! So here I am, about to apply for almost a dozen jobs that
were advertised in yesterday's paper. Hopefully I'll get them done and
emailed before the little sleepyheads started calling for me, and hopefully
one of them will pan out and land me a job. Cross your fingers!

My DH is currently driving his parents, sister and her husband and three
sons back 'home' from the city they lived in for the past 8 years. They
left Friday morning and we're expecting to see them Monday around 11 p.m.

So my jobs for today and tomorrow are to get the laundry and housekeeping
done, in preparation for those houseguests! I've only got a few loads of
laundry to fold and put away, a bathroom to clean, vacuuming to do, and I've
got to pull out the sofa bed and air the mattress. I also have to change
the other four beds as well! This is all in addition to the back-to-school
cleanout we did on my DDs's room yesterday (they were not happy about it,
either) and the million other small things that needed doing in preparation
for houseguests (new waterproof bathroom window curtain to make, cleaning
the playroom out to make room for suitcases) that I normally wouldn't bother
with while home alone for a week with my children.

It's a mauzy day today...mid twenties (Celcius) temperature, overcast,
cloudy, feels very sticky even now.

I finished a wedding-present quilt last night (my first ever!) and am
planning to work on my son's crocheted sweater for as long as possible
today, to give myself some enjoyable time before being inundated with
family!

Wow Michelle, that's quite a list of things to get done - good luck! And
please - send some of your warm weather out west to the prairies, will you?

It's only 5:30 a.m. here in Manitoba, and I think it was the wind howling
outside that woke me up. So here I am - for a short while anyway; I plan
to go back to bed.

DH & I have outside work to try to get done today, if the weather
co-operates. It looks like winter is going to come early this year, so DH
has to sharpen up the chainsaw today, and I want to get the wood rack filled
for the living room. I have had the woodstove on twice this week! Dear
Gwen - send some of your heat here too! (grin).

We are also putting new skirting boards on our mobile home - we're half done
now, and are desperate to finish that job soon! This is not a difficult
job - just time and money consuming.

My knitting group held a "knit-out" at our beautiful park in the big city
(Winnipeg) yesterday, and I drove in to participate. We had some newcomers
show up, and the weather held out well for most of the day. I worked on 8x8
blanket squares for charity while there - the squares are a great portable
project. Our blanket co-ordinator was very happy with the 12 squares I
brought for her. Two ladies and their assorted children and friends showed
up and we found out the two ladies own a yarn store!!!! They passed out 20%
off coupons - so now - a recon is required (heh, heh). Another woman who
was new to us works in a Lewiscraft store, and is a wickedly fast knitter.
She was working on a poncho made with Patons Shetland Chunky in a beautiful
dark forest green. I was amazed at how soft the yarn was.

Have a great day everyone!

Hello Gwen and you all others!!

It's now one o'clock, and morning has gone, I have been very lazy!

It was raining and I enjoyed my morning coffee sitting in bed, reading a
nice book.

Now I have done a bit house work, my DH has gone for a walk with a
friend,

I am going to work a bit in the garden, and then we'll take a trip in
the boat.

The sun tries to come through the clouds,

and the peace of the sea will give us a good start on the next week!

Last week was an "intense" one,

and I ended up with an expected migraine yesterday.

Today everything is OK and forgotten.

Wish you all a wonderful Sunday!

Hugs from AUD ;-))

Come and get it; it's too hot for me!! :)

Yes, get going, it's too early!

I've made a few things with the Shetland Chunky, and it is consistently soft
and beautiful...in fact, I've picked up some more to make hats for the
nephews for Christmas. It's only a few dollars a ball; quite the bargain
considering how nicely it works up.

Good morning, etc. to all.

I'm here with my Diet Coke, as usual.

Finally re-started the fair isle poochie sweater last
night. I had to go down *two* needle sizes to get the
proper gauge, which explains why the first attempt looked
like it was for a small cow instead of a medium sized
pooch.

I think it will all work out for the best though, since
I've changed a three of the six colors this time. The
combination will be much nicer, I believe.

It was hot and humid yesterday, but yet more rain and
boomers hit when a "cold" front moved through. Today
is much nicer with lots of sun and a nice breeze, so
maybe I can make some progress on the poochie sweater
this afternoon.

I *should* do some cleaning and housework, but why waste
the nice weather? LOL! After last week's near-hurricane,
I deserve it, right?

Gwen, don't speak of that time as wasted!! How many such days do you
have down there, and shouldn't you bask in it while you can? Just
think, God went to all the trouble to provide you with such enjoyable
meditation time after church; doesn't He want you to enjoy it? ;)

Here in Maryland it's a staggeringly lovely 70 degrees at 10 a.m. and we
too had breakfast out on the porch. Now I must decide whether to keep
basking (while finishing one half of my Micro-spun lilac shell sweater)
or take advantage of the coolth (how else can one say it?) to do massive
weeding and watering the two trees we had put in yesterday.

Yes, it's still morning for about ten minutes. We are home right now, DH didn't
feel like brunch, but wants to do some shopping later one so will get ready to
go, but did want to say good happy Sunday morning to one and all.

It's a cool morning here too in upstate NY, only 59 right now. Fall is in the

Hi:

I have two 8 week-old German Shepherds puppies right now. I am keeping one and
selling the other one unless I can convince the breeder to keep it. (Am trying
my best!) Puppies are so much fun. Even my adult dogs and cats are enjoying
the puppies.

My husband has cut a five foot by 4 foot hole in the wall of the house to
install a new window. He has to have it done by tonight otherwise the basement
will be open to the elements. Luckily here in Massachusetts the weather is
gorgeous today and he should finish it with no problems. It is just weird to
see a wall missing!

Gwen good morning the second time around.

Taking it easy today, with a coffee and unskeining some silk, and talking
to you all. We had our summer Guild potluck yesterday. For 6 weeks we
have had very hot weather, and low and behold, ,yesterday it teamed rain,
buckets of it. Since we wanted rain so badley, we took it in our stride
and sat under the balcony. Potluck are great, food is wonderful, and the
downside of it is that you eat way to much. We sat and brought out
spinning, bobbin lace, and lots of knitting. We shared lots of show and
tell. With the upcoming local Fall Fair, we had all kinds of great
weaving and knitting done. I had brought a knitting magazine that has
been out there for many years (mast head states 1984), of CAST ON. What a
great magazine. Good layout so everying is very clear. The other
magazine someone brought along with In knitting. Also a good magazine.
Most of you know about these publications, I bet.

Have a great Sunday everyone, back to the silk winding. It is very knotty
and It needs lots of patience

I just wanted to say a "good Sunday evening" to everyone since I missed the
morning visit. DH and I had a nice day today...a walk with Ajax this
morning followed by brunch. This afternoon we played nine holes of
golf...the first I've played in several years...and I did fairly well for
not having played in so long. I got in some work on my band sampler, too.
For supper we ordered pizza and then took Ajax for his evening walk. We are
about to finish off the day with a little blackberry cobbler (it was a
frozen one from the store, but still quite good!).

We just had some too. I was getting the blackberries ready for a cobbler for
my son's birthday (his request) and DH asked if I couldn't just make little
ones in two little individual custard dishes for us.
I did - and they were good.
The blackberries are about over so I mixed them up with the sugar and
thickening and cooked them up tonight. I will stick that in the freezer and
then reheat it and put the biscuit topping on and bake the whole thing on DS's
birthday. I was afraid to chance waiting to do it the usual. way and they
freeze better cooked than fresh.

Sampot , God has certainly gone to a lot of trouble with our days - you say
how many such days ?- well usually about ...lets see beginning of May to end
of November is 207 days - take away about 10 for high westerly winds which I
do not like( we are totaly shelted from any cold southerlys) and another 10
for days when it might drop to below 20c and maybe another 5 at most for
rain and that leaves 182 such days for an average. The rest - when they
get over 28 0r 29 with 95% humidity I consider too hot, although the
mornings and evenings are not too bad as a rule.

So no wonder we call it God's waiting room here on the Gold Coast.

In the winter Frank likes to go fishing in the evenings and it is warmer
for his feet to be in the water and than standing on the sand - winter water
temp is usually around 19 - 20 c

Els, I agree your "pot lucks" are great. We do not actually have pot lucks
but on some occasions when a number of people are to attend they are asked
"to bring a plate" which really amounts to much the same thing.

After our first visit to Tofino the folk there arranged a pot luck for us,
so they could all say good bye - now how cool was that ? I have never
forgotten that - it was just such a lovely thing to do - and us strangers
who only came for a week and stayed three months !! OH ! Can-a-da ! God

Nice to hear from some other bookcrossers!

I have released a couple "in the wild" but if they were found they have not
been journaled. I am afraid the university cleaning staff might have tossed
them.

My DH and I leave Saturday to drive from San Angelo, TX to Asheville, NC. I
was thinking of registering a few books and taking them with me to be
released along the way....
