Finally, the Girly Quilt

Ok, here it is. The Girly quilt, or at least my interpretation of
same. The final size is 70" x70" . The colors are Dusty Rose and
Celery Green, and small print on white. The pattern is Double Nine
Patch as the white blocks are a nine patch block made of delicate blue
and red flowers with light green vine on a white background set in 1
inch bocks. I am pretty happy with the outcome and it has stimulated
me to try some other colors that I might not have tried, otherwise. I
am going to take some time off from quilting to do some woodworking.
Not to fear though, it is quilting related. I am going to inset my
Janome 1600 long arm quilting sewing machine into the tabletop that it
is used on, which will lower its working surface and provide a larger
working area, without having to use an add on shelf for a working
surface. I also have some quilt racks to finish, and a few other
things. I have a new quilt planned which is a radical departure for
me. A modern design which involves bold primary colors, in solid
blocks of large proportion and random size which are offset by small
sashing of non uniform placement. How is that for a confusing
description?

Beautiful! The design is bold enough to make the 'girly' colors not so
delicate.

One of the few "modern" painters I like. Even though he is not very
modern.

All you need is vast quantities of French Roast coffee, a type A
personality, 6-9 hours a day to devote to your obsession, and you too
can "Quilt like John". Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Mondrian!? That is weird ... a nice kind of weird!! My
guild has a challenge. We need to make a quilt based on
a Master Painter. I have my quilt designed ... using
Mondrian as my inspiration. GMTA ,eh?

Part of the challenge requirement is to submit a photo
of the inspiration art. I have not been able to find a
photo to down load! Meantime, I am collecting more
fabric for my own "Masterpiece based on Mondrian."

Mondrian painting? If so, I'd love to have it. ****
