Anybody get the scrap quilt issue of Australian Patchwork and quilting?
I subscribe now, its expensive, but no problem finding someone who
wantsthe magazine when I am done. There is a quilt in there which uses
4" watercolor patches put together in blocks of 15 patches (48 or so of
those ) in a quilt as you go design. Well, I looked at that and then I
looked at the large pile of 2" blocks (did I mention it was a LARGE
pile????) from the watercolor class I took from Diedre Amestan
(spelling) at Jinny Beyer last year. The class was ok, but not what I
wanted to do. I had tried to get rid of the blocks last year to someone
on the web, but I misplaced the e-mail and when I asked on line, no one
responded. I saved them hoping she would e-mail me. Oh well.:>( Two
days ago I started piecing blocks of 30 - 2" squares. I stopped at 25
blocks. I am ready to start the quilt as you go process. I must say,
so far it looks like I know what I am doing - now that is amazing! I
have the quilt light in the upper right corner going dark to the bottom
left hand side. This method should have been labeled "Watercolor for
dummies". I just made blocks and them placed them around until I was
happy where they were. My DH is impressed with the looks of it. I will
keep you informed of what I think and how the method works. Has anyone
else tried this or seen it in the magazine?.
